”Damu, you are thinking that you want some fruit and that Mr. Erebus over there looks rather scary. If possible, Stein I would like to take two new series of scans, one with me touching Damu as he thinks and one with another chimera would be fine as well. I can then use your assistance to follow the patterns as they think, but also if possible, the nerve activity at the spot that I am touching.” Luca looked over at Briar and sighed. ”I don’t suppose you want to trust me, being a detective who knows almost everything that has ever happened at this school. But I can assure you that my powers have never been willingly used for malicious purposes. I have few that I would consider threats to the information stored in my head, but if you would like the list of those who would invade your privacy for personal gain...” Luca looked over at Erebus and smiled. ”I’m sure he would be able to fill you in.” Luca didn’t care much for having people fear him, as he prefered respect for his powers in a school where being closer to ‘normal’ people was dangerous.
Luca turned his attention back to Stein and began speaking softly. ”Mei no notus” Before Luca appeared a scroll and quill that began writing down everything that he would like to inspect. Closeness of nerves to the skin’s surface, amount of electrical stimulus when a thought is being processed for thinking of performing a physical action, performing a physical action, a mental action, thinking about doing a mental action, creating strategy or problem solving and trying to remember. The activity in the brain as the information is processed and the creation of DNA as the memory is Encoded into Luca. ”I suspect this will be a good place to begin. I’ve never been one for much of the scientific method, I simply try my hunches and see what happens.”
At that point, there was a knock on the door to the lab. Luca turned his head away, knowing who it was even before his voice rang through. ”We’ll need to continue this another time. I’ll take my leave now. Erebus, may I have a portal back to the Princess?” Luca placed Damu back down onto the lab table as the quill and scroll fell before Stein lightly.
From the other side of the door came his voice. ”Excuse me, this is Soleth Holmes. Would you please open the door, Doctor Stein? I have a few questions to ask.” Soleth nodded to acknowledge Sophia who returned from a quick peak inside the room.

Briar heard Stein and nodded her head before getting up and looking toward the cabinet that Stein had indicated. Suddenly Luca started to accuse her of being afraid of his power then looking toward Erebus as he finished talking. Looking at him she flipped to a new page and quickly began to write on it. After a minute she ripped the page out and walked over to Luce placing the page on the desk for him to read.
"I do not fear your power because it allows you knowledge that you would not otherwise have. I do in fact need privacy today and do not wish for anyone beside myself and Stein to know why I'm here. I also have great faith that I will not need your services if Erebus is involved. He is my friend and I trust him."
Backing up the fact that she was not afraid of him she simply brushed her finger tips across the back of his hand. for a split second before heading toward the cabinet that Stein had indicated. Anything Luca might get from her would be coded into thousands of little puzzles pieces that would take months maybe even a year to decode if he felt like it. Her mind and everything she did was based on puzzles and how the pieces fit together. If he did by chance get a moment to uncode any of it, the memories he might have gained were of training and Alex/Bridgit being her main concern.
Upon getting to the cabinet she opened it and looked around. Upon spotting the bag with her name on it she read the note and opened the bag and found another sticky note attached to the pill bottle that had a list which consisted of need to know things. Sleeping pills, non-habit forming, grape flavored, 2 a night before bed. Satisfied she checked the amount and found a month of pills there. Closing the pill bottle back into the bag she quickly placed it into her shoulder bag and closed the cabinet. Moving over to Stein she quickly wrote out a thank you note.
"Thank you very much. Would you like me to let Soleth in?" When she got the okay from Stein she moved quietly to the door and opened it to admit Soleth into the room.

Stein turned to the thunk at the door to see who it was, she heard small claws and watch Erebus create the portal out of the corner of her eye. She watched as the small dragon zipped around the room, she was glad she’d cleaned up the lab yesterday. what a fascinating creature. Stein simply watched as Yuuki curled around her, “Hello” she said to the dragon as they looked at each other. Stein saw Yuuki spot the screw and figured the little dragon couldn’t do any damage to it simply by touching it
When Erebus told Yuuki not to touch other people’s things Stein saw the dragon apologizing; She picked up the little dragon setting in on the backrest of her chair so she could pet Yuuki, and the dragon could look at the screw “It’s ok, you may look and touch, but do not turn it.” She then left the dragon to her exploring and turned to listen and address Luca. Damu was excitedly reading what Luca was writing and thinking of more things, including wondering why Luca’s hair smelt of cherries…maybe it was in his shampoo, and how he wanted to play with the little dragon Stein read over the list quickly and replied “I’ll have the hypothesis and ‘scientific method stuff’ done by tomorrow afternoon. I’ll have to ask Ash’s permission to re-scan the Chimera’s brains. But this will altogether be a fascinating experiment.”
Damu heard Soleth knock and had turned to look at the door and saw a ghost of a girl peeking into the room, before disappearing again. He backed up and was hiding behind the computer screen when Briar opened to door to admit Soleth “Enter” Stein said to the door as she rolled up the scroll along with the note from Briar and stored them in her desk. She then turned her chair to face Soleth (she’s still sitting in it backwards) “you have questions? I have a few for you as well.” Stein concluded as she turned the screw a click backwards.

Yuuki studied the screw for a moment once she had received the okay, but could still feel Erebus's watchful eyes. Deciding to leave well enough alone before she got in trouble, she floated down to take a look at Damu. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Looking up with curiosity, Yuuki flitted through the air towards the door, studying the crack apprehensively to see who had arrived.
Erebus gave Luca a halfhearted glare at the request. "I'm not some supernatural taxi service. There are windows here. If you must run away from this newest interruption, I'm sure you'll figure something out." Erebus huffed to himself as he tried once again to get comfortable in the corner. Sensing the spirits, he forced back his automatic defenses with a sigh. It seemed to be unnaturally lively today.

Luca read the note that Briar placed down for him and sighed as she brushed her fingers across his hand. ”That was... rather... counter productive on your part Briar. You do realise that you told me all of that private...” Soleth knocked once more on the door, causing Luca to sigh. ”Actually, it isn’t worth my time. I feel I’ll have a visitor soon anyway.” Luca walked over to the closest window and and turned to Stein. ”If you would please?” He asked with a bow. With the click of the lock, Luca opened the window and left the room. ’That poor child. She gave me the last 3 years of her life with that one touch. It is such a sad three years too. Her sisters are insane. But with sister’s that insane I should be surprised she didn’t get my joke.’
Luca made his way for the library. ”I wonder what Hime is up to.” (Changing Erika’s nickname to Hime so I don’t get confused with the actual princess)
Soleth entered the room with an expressionless face. ”My thanks for letting me in Doctor. Sadly, I have no questions for you, but I will answer yours.” Soleth looked around for a moment before speaking again. ”So, Luca is asking you to perform a task for him. I may have a question for you yet Doctor, but first if I may.” Soleth took a step forward and squatted down to Briar’s eye level. ”Hello Briar. I’m Detective Holmes and I have some questions about the girl named River. I hear she was trying to kill you, but failed. Could you tell me about it? More specifically, I’d like to know you and your sister’s connection to River and why she would target you three.”
Soleth looked to the side really quick and waved ”Hi Erebus. Pleased to not be killed by you today.”

Briar watched him and noted his sigh. Well one little thing wouldn't mean much to him so long as he knew she had no fear of his powers. She may only be ten but people tended to seriously underestimated what she could handle. As he headed for the window she concentrated on her sound affinity and sent her soft words to Luca's ears. "I don't care what you saw, but know one thing. My sisters are my life." Her voice disappeared even as the last word was spoken and he had disappeared out the window.
As Soleth came into the room she looked at him and listened. Suddenly he crouched down to her eye level though she was only about a foot and a few inches smaller. Looking him in the eye she listened to his questions while her mind pulled up many possible answers she could give him and one that she would never give him. Her mind pulled up info she had learned about Soleth and knew that if she lied he would know possibly. As he finished speaking Briar looked him right in the eye before pulling up her note book and flipping to a new page she simply wrote 'why?' before meeting Soleth's eyes again. It wasn't River's fault she had attacked them. Someone had programmed her. Why should she tell Soleth why and how?

Yuuki floated down to take a look at Damu. And Damu sniffed at her in return and said ‘hello’ before she flew away. After saying hello he looked out from behind the screen and watched Briar and Soleth speaking. Stein noticed that Damu had seen something at the door, and hid behind her computer screen. When she’d looked there’d been only Soleth standing in the door. He was giving off unusually high levels of estrogen, but that wouldn’t have scared Damu. “Damu, what startled you and cause your heart rate to spike?” She asked him very quietly as she continued typing on her computer. “There’s a ghost following him, it’s a girl. She looked in through the door before he came in.” Damu replied to Stein’s question. Stein didn’t even raise an eyebrow, but started thinking over the information she knew about Soleth Soleth Holmes. Savalin male. 6’2”. Blood type SS+. 9th year at the academy. Highly intelligent and an expert at problem solving and deduction, that’s why he works as a detective on campus and around the area. Decent athletic skills, main skills centered on spirits and the spiritual world
She finished typing and clicked the screw once as she turned the roly-chair and replied to Soleth saying “Yes, Luca is helping me with a project. He has some very interesting abilities that he’s agreed to let me study; He had some good ideas on how to start the project as well that he was telling me.” Stein then sat quietly leaning over the back of the chair and waited for Briar’s response to Soleth’s questions. During this Damu had slowly emerged from behind the computer and was sitting on the edge of the desk watching Briar.

Erebus listened to Soleth with his eyes still closed. When Sloeth addressed him, he responded dryly with out missing a beat. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves. The day is not over yet." Sensing Briar's apprehension, Erebus opened his eyes and settled a bored glare on the young man. "Briar, if you'd like me to get rid of this one as well, I'll give you a special ninety nine percent discount and throw in a buy one get one free deal." Erebus was only half joking.

Soleth gave Erebus a smile as he remarked, ”It is, it is. I can always look forward to the day you kill me. I wonder if I’ll stay dead this time.” Soleth turned back to Briar and folded his arms across his chest. “Why not? I’m looking to gather information on what happened, figure out the cause and prevent the occurrence from occurring again. I would hope that you would be averse to being assassinated by a fellow student. I would hope even more that you would be adverse to someone trying to kill your sisters, next time she might succeed. Your information would help prevent that. So please, tell me your side of the story.”
Sophia floated around the room, swallowing hard as Erebus made his jab at not just killing Soleth but another, probably herself since her body would have to die. “That’s not very nice Erebus. Why… sometimes I wish I could knock you down a few pegs.” Sophia didn’t know if Erebus had the ability to perceive her, but it was apparent that Damu could see spirits when they were present in this one. She floated over to Soleth and whispered into his ear. ”The chimera Damu, I think he can see me. But I don’t know what else.” Soleth continued to smile at Briar while manifesting his spirit energy in the size and shape of a feather outside the window. Sophia recognized the signal and retreated to the spirit world where Soleth was writing a message to Sophia with his spirit energy. It read
”Yes, yes he can. It isn’t something to be bothered about, it will take Stein knowing your face or name to fully piece it all together. For now, return and play with the small Chimera. Give him your name so he can tell Stein. His support will bring us closer to Stein and I want to keep tabs on what Luca is doing. If he is submitting to test by Stein, then there is something big on the horizon. We need more allies if we are going to succeed.
Sophia returned to the living world from the human world, and floated over to Damu. She waved happily and smiled in front of him. ”Hi, I’m Sophia. Please don’t be afraid of me Damu. I’m not an evil ghost! I’m a helper ghost! Would you like to play?” Soleth smiled, ”Please though, don’t take him up on that offer. I’d hate to ruin Stein’s lab trying to save my life.”

Briar looked at Erebus and gave him a scolding look like she might give Bridgit. Writing on a new page she side stepped away from Soleth to allow Erebus to see her words. 'Sorry but no. If I allowed you to do so, I would have to allow Bridgit to do so. But thank you for the offer.' Once he had read her words she smiled at Erebus before flipping to a new page. Quickly she wrote on it then tore the paper out. Neatly folding it she handed the paper to Soleth. Walking over to Erebus she placed another water bottle near him.
Smiling she waved in good bye and walked over to the door. Opening she turned and waved to the rest of the occupants in the room. Quickly she left to go see her sisters. On the sheet of paper she wrote to Soleth it said, 'It wasn't Rivers fault. Its done and over with and their wont be a next time.' It might be obvious from that simple statement that Briar knew the cause and how to prevent it. She was just refusing to tell Soleth, encase he decided to tell someone who might hurt River. He was a detective of the school after all.

Damu heard Sophia whispering to Soleth and watched as she disappeared, then reappeared and floated over to him. Damu decided that he’d stand his ground against this ghost but relaxed again when Sophia introduced herself. “Hi Sophia, I’m Damu, wait…can I talk to you, or should I- never mind, you’re it.” He replied as he jumped off the counter and bound across the room.
Stay dead this time? …I wonder Stein thought as she listened to Soleth talking with Erebus and Briar. “Good bye Briar, please remind Bridgit that her toys need to be picked up.” Stein said to Briar as the young girl left the lab.
Stein then spun around a few times in her chair before slowing and facing Soleth. “I have a few questions, you don’t have to answer them, but I’m very curious to know their answers….What do you mean by ‘stay dead this time’? …Also, why are your estrogen levels high enough to correspond with a girl at the peak of her menstruation cycle?” Stein asked as she settle further into her chair, she knew she’d caught onto something, and she could probably do back-research and find the answers, but she preferred talking to people “Science is all about collecting answers; it’s best to go straight to the source to collect the most accurate results possible; for both information on you, and River” Stein grinned, it looked creepy when she grinned like that, with a twinkle in her eye.
Stein was watching Damu out of the corner of her eye and asked “Damu, are you chasing ghost hallucinations again?” Stein knew that Damu really had found something, but she didn’t want to present her data till she had a firm base and confirmed hypothesis. Damu looked over his shoulder and said “No, I’m playin’ with Sophia the helper ghost!” He exclaimed as he continued running and sneaking across the room. “Damu watch-“ Stein was too late, Damu skidded into a cabinet, rattling shelves of glass vials that were locked inside. Stein stilled the cabinet with her metal affinity, but she wasn’t sure if any of the glass bottles had broken.

Erebus crossed his arms in annoyance as another surge of energy went through his body. The pain coupled with the steady stream of visitors had caused his temper to flare. He waited for Briar to leave the room before speaking.
"Knock me down a few pegs, was it? I am in this miserable state after all. I suppose it's only natural to have such thoughts given the circumstances. I should warn you though, being a spirit will not protect you from me." Erebus snapped his fingers, and the sound of it seemed to reverberate and echo through the room. On the wall to Erebus's right, the shadows began to pool. An ominous growl began to grow gradually louder until a monstrous beast stepped forth from the black portal. Wrapped in tattered cloth and glowing a faint sickly green color, the massive black wolf like creature stalked out from the unknown. It's eyes were pure white, lacking pupils, and it's razor sharp fangs dripped with ectoplasmic goo. The hell hound had only stepped halfway into the room and already it was twice Erebus's size. Reaching out, Erebus ran his hand through the beast's fur and it stopped moving forwards.
"I'll admit, a spirit who still possess a living body is not something I would trouble myself with unless hired to do so. However, that still leaves one spirit unaccounted for." The beast's empty eyes sat fixed on Soleth, as it waited silently under its master's touch. "I came to this room as it statistically showed one of the lowest flows of traffic within the school, even though that seems to have been proven false within the course of a single hour. I came here to rest in what I hoped to be relative peace. At this moment I am rather annoyed because that peace has been shattered. If it were to be restored however, my ire would subside." As Erebus's eyes snapped open, Soleth and Sophia would just barely be able to make out the faint silhouette of a massive cloaked figure holding a scythe, superimposed with the wall behind him. Lifting his hand, the hell hound began to growl once again as Erebus waited for their response.

It was with a heavy heart that Soleth had to turn towards Erebus and give him an unamused stare. Soleth wouldn’t have minded his words alone but by using his illusions and beast as a tool in this way put the spirit on edge. He looked at the figure in the shadows, reminiscent of the grim reaper and with careful study Soleth turned his back to Erebus. The Hellhound was unthreatening and the Grim reaper looked just barely like the real one.
Sophia tried to remain calm as Erebus made his threats against her and her husband. Every fiber in her wanted to lash out and attack the wounded boy for his rudeness, but Soleth’s visibly agitated face faded away as he returned his attention to Stein and that was a sign to her. “Allow it, don’t be bothered” is what his actions said to her. She sucked her teeth and folded her arms across her spiritual chest. ”Alright Sol, if you’re going to forgive the little boy I guess I can too. I’d really like to sock him in the jaw though.”
Sophia floated into a corner and kept her eyes locked on Erebus. She didn’t trust him, with good reason. He could be acting, fooling everyone with an illusion and just waiting for the moment when he should strike out at them, but his current state made him seem pitiful and weak; he was nothing like the deadly assassin that she had read and heard about on their (Sophia and Soleth) journeys. Another moment passed before she remembered that she was playing with Damu, warming him up to help create a feeling of trust with her and by proxy, Soleth.
Soleth focused his eyes on Stein and with a blank face said replied to her menstruation cycle question in a flat voice. “Because I am.” a playful smile arose on his face a moment afterwards but only for a brief second. He took a step over to the window and sat on the sill as he began to answer the next question. “You see, when I was a little boy I was on a case to crack a drug ring. They tried to kill me, but my spirit is strong. Sophia lost her body in due to their ambush. Seeing as I am a spirit master, I prevented her soul from permanently entering the afterlife. That should be enough information for you, Doctor.”
Soleth ran his fingers through his hair before looking back at Erebus. A coy smile arose on Soleth’s face as he walked over to the hell hound and put his face on level with the hound’s. ”A very unconvincing illusion, you’re too tired to play this hand assassin. I shall retreat for now, maybe you’ll have the power to kill me next time we meet, although I doubt it.” Soleth walked back to Stein and handed her a card. It held a date, some 5(ish) years before and a number. “If that’s not enough to answer all of your questions, call me. My number is on the back.” Soleth walked over to the door and opened it, waving good bye to the people remaining in the room.
Sophia floated over to Damu and smiled “I have a feeling I’ll be seeing you soon little man! Hold down the fort for Doctor Stein! Bye bye!” Sophia began to float through the wall but before she was gone she turned to Erebus and pulled her eye lid down and stuck her tongue out at him. She floated away and caught up to Soleth.
“Was that hound really an illusion?” Hell if I know. Probably not.” “Then why did you do that?” “Because Erebus is an idiot with a nuclear bomb. He lacks any skill other than those related to destruction and sadly he will eventually go insane as his father did. Why would I want him to think he can threaten others with his powers? Why not hide out in the infinite forest and make himself disappear from those searching for him?. If he can’t do that even when he wants to be left alone, then he truly is an idiot.”

Stein could tell that Erebus was reaching the end of his rope, and while she was curious about what the hell hound would do she was prepared to ask Soleth to please leave if he didn’t already have plans to do so. When Soleth answered her questions and handed her his card preparing to leave she looked at it and replied to Soleth “Interesting. Thank you for the information, but this should be sufficient.” She stuck the card in her front right chest pocket and turned to check the cabinet Damu had crashed into. Damu meanwhile had recovered from his crash and sat when Sophia addressed him to say goodbye “I will, I’m good at that. Bye-bye He then looked curiously at the hell hound coming from the wall… could I make friends with it? He pondered. Stein followed Soleth to the door and closed it behind him before going to check on the cabinet, she had a feeling that something had been broken inside of it
Stein unlocked and opened the cabinet to assess the damage and found that a few vials had been knocked over, but they were sealed, she simply righted them. However, one bottle had shattered and leaked across the shelf. Stein carefully picked up the bottle to identify it and nearly dropped it again. Stein could feel the shift in the air already.
She turned and said “Damu, can you please head back to your bed?” Damu sat for a moment longer then turned and jogged to the ‘hidden’ room, closing the door behind him, He trusted Stein…whatever was happening. Stein quickly sat in her chair as she rolled back to her desk and started clicking the screw forwards and backwards several times hurriedly; adjusting the hormone and chemical balances in her brain for what she knew was coming. Without turning to Erebus she asked “Erebus, have you even been in love before?” before she quickly pulled a notebook out of the center drawer and grabbed a pencil from the cup on the desk and started writing in chicken scratch on the 3rd page.
She knew what had been released into the lab; she’d been working on a gaseous substance that shifted the chemical and hormonal balances in the brain, she’d chosen to shift it to ‘in-love’ as a first attempt. She flipped the notebook to a page where she’d listed the ingredients and ratios in that particular batch. Phenylethylamine, Oxytocin, Dopamine and Serotonin shifts…..this could be bad. This batch is set to throw someone entirely off the deep end of love. Erebus said his body rejects excess chemicals and hormones, but these are within natural ranges of the brain, he may or may not be affected, not exactly my first choice of test subjects… Her thought trailed off as she turned back to Erebus, watching for how he’d react to this hormone shift. (Note: being in love can actually decrease stress and boost your immune systems…maybe this is good for him)

Quietly a woman with platinum blond hair walked down the hall. The wound in her side was bleeding again and rather then create more work for Chrystaline she decided to go back to the person who had originally treated it. Glancing around with pale blue eyes she kept an eye on a sleeping child and another roaming the halls. Catching Soleth's scent near Eris's lab she blinked. What had he needed? Oh well.
Mekura walked up to Stein's door and knocked softly knowing the girl would hear her. It wasn't like there was much noise in her lab. Though there was a weird smell coming from the room. Her mind instantly filed it away as one of Steins experiments gone wrong. Touching her left side she felt the wet spot but knew it wouldn't show do to her shirt being red at the moment. Sighing softly she dropped her hand and felt a weird inkling that she was going to get chewed out by Stein.
Hearing a rolling chair near the door she blinked as Stein opened the door. She felt somewhat distracted though. As she entered she noted Erebus's scent and figured he probably was here for peace and quiet. "If you could just fix the stitches in my side real quick that would be great. And yes I think I popped three of them." Hearing the irritable sigh from Stein, Mekura gave a shrug before finding a seat as Stein told her to do so. Sitting up straight to decrease the pain in her side she wondered why Stein hadn't cleaned up the chemicals that had only gotten stronger since she walked in.
