"Alex honey! If you're going to go to the academy today you should wake up!" Alex rolled over without opening his eyes. Of course he was already awake; he always woke up early. However, since his suspension the previous school year, he had lost what little motivation he had to attend classes in the first place. "Alex?" Cheerful as usual, his mother barged into his small room, opening the blinds to allow the light to flood the small but tidy space. Grumbling he sat up slowly, refusing to look her in the eyes. She clapped her hands together excitedly.
"You're up! Oh good, I was starting to get worried you were sick. If you're feeling up to it, you should try to go in today." Alex kept his eyes down as he teleported out of sight of his mother into the bathroom.
"Somethings never change." He thought to himself grimly. Throughout his life, his mother's smile had never wavered; not when his involvement in a gang was brought to light. She was unwavering after hearing of the murder he committed. Regardless of how righteous it was it was still murder. When he was suspended, she simply smiled and told him he'd have better luck next year.
Brushing his teeth and hair with an unhappy vigor, Alex opened the bathroom door to be greeted by the smell of eggs and bacon.Crossing behind his mom the short few feet to his bedroom door, he closed it to get changed for the day. One of the perks of his stay at the academy was the small apartment granted for him and his mother to live in. It was why he couldn't just run off. This apartment was his mother's ticket out of district six, and there was no way in hell he would let her go back there. Lacing up his boots, he stood and opened the door to the kitchen once again, immediately spotting the plate set aside for him.
"I've told you before, you don't have to make breakfast for me." He picked up the plate and began quickly eating. His mother smiled warmly.
"Cooking helps me stay busy. I'm glad for the time to rest, but it's almost too quiet now that I don't have to work anymore." Upon his entrance to the academy, Alexander participated and won an advanced marksmanship competition. Now, at least seven nations and private military corporations are looking to scout him upon his graduation, and have taken care of all of he and his mother's expenses at the academy. "In fact, I was thinking of looking for a job somewhere on the campus here." Alex stopped eating. After a short pause he put his plate back down on the table.
"Don't be ridiculous. I've got everything taken care of. You don't have to work anymore, so you should take this time to catch up on all the rest you missed out on before. After this academy I'll be a big shot in the military somewhere. I'll be able to buy you a big house out in the country." His mother smiled sadly.
"Thank you Alex, but you don't really want that do you? You've never been violent. Being in the army doesn't-"
"I was in a gang mom. I killed someone, and now I'm here studying how to be better at doing exactly that. The military is the perfect place for someone like me."
"Alex-"
"Thanks for breakfast." Without another word, he vanished from the kitchen, reappearing out on the green between the living section and the school section. Sparing the academic buildings a glance, he turned to the left and began walking away from them down the stone pathway. After a minute or so, he came across two second year girls talking and laughing amongst themselves. Instantly dawning his big friendly smile when they spotted him, they ran over happily.
"Alex! We haven't seen you in months! We were starting to get worried that you'd forgotten about us." Laughing airily, Alex shook his head.
"I could never forget about you two. Your smiles are always just the thing I need to cheer up when I'm down." The girls blushed and giggled to each other.
"It's too bad you have to repeat your first year. It's so unfair! You had nothing to do with that anyway! You were just trying to calm things down right?" Alex laughed happily and waved them off.
"Well, that's true, but i probably could have done a better job at it. Everything's 20/20 in hindsight." Before they could reply, the sound of a bell tolling from across the green could be heard.
"Shoot, we're gonna be late! It was good seeing you Alex, and make sure to call us! You never keep in touch!" Smiling brightly, Alex nodded.
"I'm sorry, I always seem to loose track things. I'll be more mindful of it in the future. Good luck with your lessons." With a final bout of laughter and a wave, they took off running across the grass towards the academic building. Smiling fading back into it's usual impassive state, Alex continued slowly down the path, no real destination in mind.

As classes started for the day students moved to and fro trying to catch a quick nap or maybe to get a missing book. It was a morning routine that was probably going to stick for the rest of the semester for most. Among the students, though, was a child of about five years old, 3'5'' and her white hair, about midback length, flowing behind her in a braid. Her emerald eyes were alight with amusement and her fox ears perked up as she raced forward. She seemed to be trying to find a place to hide which was nearly impossible with her neon pink shirt and blue jean shorts. Giggling the child looked behind her before she ran straight into students legs. Looking up at the boy before her eyes widened as she took in the plain t-shirt and black pants wavy brown hair and kind brown eyes. Hearing a girl calling out ready or not she gasped.
Kiki jumped up and raced behind the boy trying to hide behind him. Her sister was gonna find her too quickly this time. Hiding her small frame behind the boy as much as she could she tried to keep quiet. She didn't wanna lose that easily! Slowing her breathing she kept reallyquiet.
It wasn't long before a girl with bright red curly hair and the same emerald eyes came running by. She was about 16, 5'8'' and was in a white t-shirt which had several different pain platters on it, and jeans with no shoes. "Kiki! I'm going to find you!" As she came across the boy she smiled. "Have you seen a girl about 5 with white hair?" Rikka had no problem asking if it lead her to finding her sister sooner. She loved playing with her sister. Especially since she had opted for some night classes and some afternoon classes. It worked out perfectly for her cause it meant more time with Kiki.

Alice was walking down the path from the dorms towards the academic buildings. She was wearing her pink dress and apron, which still had a little bit of batter on it from the cupcakes; She was carrying a plate of fresh baked cupcakes and humming to herself. She saw a boy who had paused in the road as a small girl ran to hide behind his legs. She smile and walked towards them, another girl with bright red hair ran up to the boy and asked if he’d seen a 5 year old girl, Alice took that to mean that the two girls were sibling. She reached the small group and introduced herself “Hello I’m Miss Alice, nice to meet you. Would you like a cupcake? Alice said as she offered them the plate to select from. That little girl is so cute, can I play with her? Mint bunny asked from his perch on top of Alice’s head before he hopped off to hover next to her.You may, but don’t startle her, they’re in the middle of a game right now

Alex stopped in surprise as the small girl bumped into him. He smiled and was about to say something, but she quickly scampered behind him. A moment later, a beautiful girl with curly red hair and cute fox ears appeared. Smiling warmly, Alex seamlessly fell into suit. Putting his hand to his forehead as if to shield the sun, he made a show of looking all around.
"Hmm, now let's see. Nope, I don't think I've seen anyone like that at all. She wouldn't happen to have cute ears like yours now would she?" Secretively reaching behind himself, Alex pet the small girls head affectionately.
As a new beautiful young lady approached, Alex smiled gallantly in greetings. "Good morning Alice. My name is Alexander, but you can just call me Alex. I'm afraid I've already eaten today, but my new friend here is looking for someone. Perhaps they would like one instead."

Kiki tried not to giggle as the boy covered for her. It was hard. She wanted to giggle over her sisters silliness. Covering her mouth she kept the sounds form coming out. Blinking she felt the boy pet her head which made her smile. Her eyes were pulled to a girl with cupcakes as she offered everyone one. Oh! She wanted one! Could she get one with out Rikka noticing her? Calculating the odds in her head she knew she couldn't. Suddenly she noted something green. Eyes drawn to it they widened as they took in the appearance of the flying green bunny. I wanna hold it! Maybe Ms. Alice with let me hold it! At least I think its hers.... The child's thoughts jumped around as she was plagued with choices. She could give up the game and get a cupcake or hold the bunny. On the other hand she could win the game and possibly miss out on the chance for a cupcake and to get to know the bunny.
Rikka watched him put on a show while pretending to look around. It was actually very comical. It also meant he had seen her sister. Grinning she chuckled. "Well if that's the case I should probably look else where! Oh Hello Alice! I'm Rikka its nice to meet you both!" As Alice offered them a cupcake she happily took one. "Thank you for the cupcake!" With that she ran off to search a few bushes that were Kiki's height which munching on the cupcake.
Kiki watched her sister run off toward the bushes and gently reached over to tug on Alice's skirt. "Ms. Alice may I have a cupcake?" Her voice was quiet afraid that Rikka might hear her. Her sister had excellent hearing when she wanted to.

“I hope you enjoy it, they’re fresh” Alice said as Rikka took a cupcake and ran off to search some other bushed for the little girl. Alice had noticed the little girl’s eyes go wide as she stared at the space where Mint Bunny was. She can see him too, wonderful Alice felt a tug on her skirt and heard the small girls request “Of course you may have one” She whispered as she handed the girl a cupcake that had a pink and mint green swirl on top “Just like Mint Bunny’s fur. You can touch him if you’d like, and if you listen really closely you might hear him speak” She winked at the girl and smiled. Mint bunny floated down so that he was hovering in front of the girl, face to face with her (only Kiki can hear this faintly) “Hello, I’m Flying Mint Bunny! Wanna play? ...Your ears are cool” he said as he reached out and touched her ear, retracting his paw when it twitched in response, before reaching out to touch it again.

Alex turned with a smile, kneeling down so that he was eye to eye with Kiki.
"Well, while we wait for your sister to come back, why don't we play a game..." Alex paused waiting for her to fill in the blank of her name. Then smiling a wide toothy grin, he pulled out a coin. Handing it out to her, he let her inspect it.
"This looks like a normal coin right? Well it's actually a special lucky charm. It likes to spontaneously "bounce" around." With a quiet pop, the coin vanished from the small kitsune's hand and reappeared between his fingers. Smile growing wider, Alex continued. "If you win a special game, or are very lucky, the coin may choose you as it's new keeper." Flicking the coin into the air, Alex crossed both arms as it came down to obscure which hand he caught it in.
"Would you like to try? All you have to do is guess which hand the coin is in."

Kiki smiled and took the cupcake gently before looking up at the bunny who had decided to poke her ear after speaking. It twitched and he pulled his paw away before doing it again. Giggling she pulled the wrapper off the cupcake and tucked it into her pocket. Happily she bit into the treat and listened to Alex. "My names Kiki!" Watching his hands she heard out his proposition and watched him as her mind entered math mode and attempted to calculate which hand had grabbed it first. "How about the left one!" She grinned happily with her choice since her calculations could have been wrong but it was a game it was okay to be wrong. Plus she had found out that apparently other kids didn't have the math skills she had so she tended to have to try not to use them. Taking another bite out of the treat she watched Alex intently.

Alice sat down in the grass beside the path to watch Kiki and Alex play the coin game. She smiled I think it’s the right hand…but this is not my game, it’s Kiki’s Mint Bunny flew over, landed in Alice’s lap and settled down. Alice absently started petting Mint Bunny’s head. She turned to watch Rikka, who was still searching the bushes for Kiki Alice quietly watched the 2 games and spoke to herself “Growing up with siblings must be nice, someone to play with and care for, and make cupcakes with...”

Smiling slyly, Alex opened his left hand to reveal it was empty.
"That was a good try but...hey wait a minute." Opening his right hand, Alex feigned surprise when the coin wasn't there either. Hurriedly checking all of his pockets in a mock panic, Alex put on a good show, but the coin was nowhere to be found. "Now, I wonder where it went? Why don't you check your pockets too!" Hiding his grin, Alex watched the cute young girl expectantly. He knew exactly where the coin was, as he was the one who had teleported it into the left pocket of her jeans.

Kiki watched and giggled as he showed an empty hand before he opened the other and looked rather worried. The coin had disappeared. Searching her pockets she found the coin in her left pocket and pulled her hand out with a smile showing him the coin. "I found it! It was in my pocket. How'd it get there?" Even as she wondered she was strangely excited. She liked this new game.
As the game played out between Kiki and Alex a yelp and a crash could be heard. Rikka who had been searching for Kiki had tripped and fallen into a set of wild rose bushes. Sitting Rikka looked around as if she hadn't just fallen into the thorns and didn't have a scratch on her cheek or scratched on her arms and legs. Kiki looked over at her sister and blinked. Her silly sister must have tripped over her feet again. Finish the cupcake she stuck her free hand into her pockets searching again and came up with pretty neon band aids.

Alice smiled as she watched the game play out and was also surprised when the coin wasn’t in either hand. When the coin appeared in Kiki’s pocket she said “I think the coin likes you Kiki.” She heard the crash and turned to see Rikka in the rose bushes. She stood up and rushed over to Rikka “Are you okay?” Alice asked Rikka as she pulled some Band-Aids and disinfectant from her bag. Mint Bunny followed Alice over to Rikka and landed beside Rikka’s left elbow, perched on a flower is she going to be okay? That looked like it hurt… she should be okay, just some scratches…but it probably did hurt

Alex smiled happily at the girls excitement.
"You know what that means? The lucky coin chose you as its new keeper! You're sure to have some excellent fortune from now on." Alex couldn't help but laugh upon seeing the predicament the older sister had fallen into. "Shall we go help your clumsy sister now?" He asked Kiki, smiling warmly. Following Alice to where Rikka sat in the roses, Alex eyed the thorns.
"Hold on one second. Don't try to get out just yet. It would be a shame if a pretty young lady such as yourself were to get any more scratched up." Showing her a coy grin, Alex bowed gallantly before reaching a finger out to touch her shoulder. "You may get a little bit nauseous the first time, but just try to relax and I swear you'll be fine." Alex reached his left hand out behind him, and with a small pop, Rikka vanished from the rose bushes and reappeared, her own hand caught firmly by his left. Alex held his grip for a moment until she regained her balance. Smiling to Kiki he wondered whether or not she had figured out his trick yet.

Rikka looked at Alice with a bright grin on her face. Her ear twitched as she heard a faint voice beside her. "I will be okay. Its just a few scratches and it barely even stings. I do this all the....." She trailed off as she seemed to catch sight of the flying mint green bunny that had asked the question. Blinking she sucked in a breath as the creature disappeared. What had that been? Did these rose bushes cause illusions? Looking to Alice she wondered if the girl had seen the flying bunny. Putting it to the back of her mind she spotted Kiki and Alex headed over. Grinning she went to get up until the boy told her not to. Sitting quietly between the thorns she stuck her tongue out at Kiki.
Kiki giggled as he spoke up about the coin choosing her. Staring at the lucky coin she stuck it gently in her pocket before nodding her head. Following closely behind Alex she giggled at her Sisters predicament. Seeing her sister stick her tongue out she giggled. "Naughty! Do as your told!" Rikka sighed gave a look of absolute boredom. It was a look she often saw on Kiki's face when Rikka had to do her homework before playing with Kiki.
Rikka looked up at Alex and was about to ask questions but relaxed and took his word for it. If it got her out of these prickly rose bushes she let him...her thoughts trailed off as everything went dark for a second then she could see again and Alex seemed to be keeping her balanced. Absolutely started Rikka seemed to disappear though if they looked down they would notice a large fox about the size of a red wolf wearing Rikka's clothes. Hearing her sister giggle she looked over and found Kiki had fallen over giggling. It wasn't often her sister ended up so startled she shifted. Rikka growled playfully at Kiki who was sent further into fits of giggles. Rikka looked up at Alex then over at Alice before shifting back and having to adjust her clothes a bit so that they fit properly like before. Of course the scratches were back. Before healing them though she lunged at Kiki and sat her in her lap tickling her little sister for laughing at her. Remembering what Alex had done she looked up at him and gave him a smile. "Thanks for getting me out of the rose bushes. They didn't really care for me trying to blend into them."
Kiki sat up wiping the tears streaming from her eyes as she caught her breath. Smiling up as Alex she had a knowing look in her eyes about his trick, but it didn't take the fun out of his game.

oh ok, but be more careful not to hurt yourse- wait, you can hear me? Alice, she can hear me!!! Hooray, more people can see me, more people to talk to now. Alice blinked as Rikka disappeared from the roses and appeared next to Alex, she stood up and paused again about 3 feet away when Rikka turned into a large red fox “Wow, how did you do that Rikka? Transform like that? Alice asked excitedly maybe she can teach me to control my transformations Alice put the band-aids and disinfectant back into her bag while Rikka was tickling Kiki. Alice would have continued talking but at that moment Mint Bunny zipped past her and flew over to tap Kiki’s ear before he flew and sat on Alex’s head Lots of new friends and people to talk too, they can hear me…whoops, wrong head with that Mint Bunny zipped back over and landed on Rikka’s head. He was nestled between her ears poking her left hear a few times. And when the right one twitched un-expectantly he turned to look at it and sniffed it before sneezing. Excuse me. It’s so fun that she can see me!
