A letter was delivered to every students door and ever teachers office by either Alice or Mint Bunny which read:
Dear Academy teachers and students, You are all cordially invited to Miss Alice’s high tea tomorrow afternoon at 2 pm. The event will take place in the courtyard. Please dress semi-formally for the event. The Cielifreann twins have offered appropriate outfits if you lack one for the event.
Cordially yours, Miss Alice Kiraland ……………
Miss Alice finished setting up for her high tea and smiled a little as Mint Bunny set the last cup on the last saucer. She stepped back to look at her work. She had enough tables and settings to seat everyone, each table had 5 place settings; each setting consisted of one cup and saucer, and one small plate with the appropriate silverware. Each table also had a teapot of hot water and various teas along with a stacked platter-tower of snacks: Petite-fours, finger sandwiches, scones, cupcakes, and fruit tarts.
“Darling cherry-blossom, am I allowed to take my seat yet?” A cheerful voice said from behind Alice. Alice smiled and turned to greet Edward. Edward was well known for his over-the-top outfits no matter what occasion, today he was sporting purple pants and a striped shirt with a red tail-coat and matching shoes. “Of course you may sit down, I’d hate to leave a guest standing when there are seats available. Will your boyfriend be joining you as well for tea?” Edward bent and kissed Alice’s hand, causing her to blush slightly before he said “Alas no my lady, he is busy on this fine day visiting his sister, but he has promised to join me tomorrow for a picnic; it will be lovely.” “Well darn.” Alice replied “I hope your picnic tomorrow goes splendidly, the two of you shall have a marvelous time. Now please sit and enjoy, you’re a little early for the tea but the Cielifreann twins are here as well.”
Taighler and Taylour were sitting at a different table making small talk together. They were dressed in Victorian era tea-suits of matching pale-green with different colored cravats to complement the green and to make it easier for people to tell which twin was which.

Dear Clover, We would very much like if you would do us the honor of attending the tea party. We asked Miss Alice if she could ensure seating was flexible so that you do not have to sit with us if you do not wish too. If you would like to come but don’t have an appropriate dress Mekura has a few you may borrow, including a beautiful pale-green one that was always one of our favorites. Love. Taighler and Taylour
The long black haired girl stared at the note as she read it once more, her grey-blue eyes taking in the words the twins had written. Looking over the note she stared at the two boxes on her bed and felt slightly guilty. She had been avoiding them ever since the club incident a few weeks ago. She had slipped up was sure she had made the friendship they had weird. Though they hadn't acted like it. They had acted like they normally do which should have left her relieved but instead it had hurt.
Stepping over to the boxes she had put on her bed she opened them up and found pale green dresses with silver accents in one and gold in the other. She was half tempted to skip the tea party of course she knew that was wrong after Alice went to all that trouble. Another glance at the dresses had Clover feeling guilty all over again. With a small sigh she set about getting ready for the tea party.
------------------------
Stopping just inside her door a girl with long brown hair and brown eyes picked up a letter addressed to her. Pulling it open she continued into the room followed by four puppy like creatures. Reading the letter from Alice she blinked and wondered if she had brought her formal wear from home. Shutting the door she headed to her bedroom as the small paint splattered chimera and brown ‘n’ cream spotted one start tussling on the floor. Opening the door to her closet she rifled through her things looking for the dress she had worn back home when attending meetings with her parents. Spotting the dark blue dress she pulled it out of her closet and placed it on her bed. Walking back out into the living room area she spotted Mizu the baby of the group trying to wrestle Snow the largest. Arching a brow she couldn’t help but grin as she saw Mizu headbutted Snow’s side to no avail. ”Alrighty! Bath time. Everyone into the bathroom.” At the mention of a bath all the chimeras were up and running for the bathroom. Though Snow had picked up Mizu so the other two wouldn’t trample her.
It took a little over an hour to get everyone clean since Shiro and Rue both decided to wrestle in the bathtub creating more bubbles than needed. Once Ash was dried off and in her dress she set about brushing the chimeras and making sure they were dry. As soon as they were dry and brushed though Ash added a pink bow to Mizu’s right ear, a Brown sparkly bow to Rues Collar and Bow Ties for the boys. ”Now if you keep those on through the tea party I will have a treat for you when we get back.” With that she grabbed her storage device just encase and clipped it to the sash on her waist as she slipped into a pair of dark blue flats.
Ushering the chimeras out the door she scooped up Mizu who was lagging behind and off they went.They were a bit early but that would be okay. Being early was better than being late. Arriving in the Courtyard she spotted the tea party Alice had set up. Walking over she waited to be seated since Alice was the host after all. It would do no good to seat herself if Alice had seating arrangement.
-------------------------
The purple haired teacher stared at her wardrobe as she debated on what to wear to Miss Alice’s tea party. Her yellow eyes spotted several skimpy dresses she could wear to the little party. As she got to the end of her closet she found a casual dress for the office. Her eyes softened as she pulled out the dress. Laying it on her bed she decided just for today she would behave herself. Couldn't go scaring the girl that Blair was indecent all the time. Besides Blair had taken a liking to the prim and proper Alice.
Stretching she freshened up her make-up did her hair up into a ponytail with a few pieces to frame her face. Moving back to the bed she changed into the dress and pulled out a pair of 3 inch purple heels before grabbing her purse and heading out. Upon arriving at the tea party she grinned and waved at Edward. Making her way over to his table she placed herself in a seat next to him. He was always one for a good conversation. Plus she had a feeling Alice might have a heart attack if she sat herself next to her. ”Hello Darling! How has your day been?” “And a wonderful afternoon to you sugar-plum, what happened to your usual flavorful and redolent, outfits? I've told you before, if you intend to alter your attire that you should wear more mauve, it’d be a lovely color on you.”
Blair gave Edward a Cheshire cat grin as he commented on her attire. ”Don’t worry I will be back to my flavorful and redolent outfits tomorrow. Today I felt like trying something new and I also haven’t worn this dress in a while. It happens have belonged to my mother.” Edward smiled as Blair finished and took a sip of his tea “It is a lovely dress, and befitting of a teacher, but you already look so lovely in your usual Ostentatious dresses. Now, tell me, what are your plans for the upcoming semester? any new dresses to unveil, or just your usual purples?” Edward took another sip of tea and continued “Are you free this Saturday night, I know where to get some red wine that is too die for.” Blair picked out a green tea packet and opened it placing it in her cup before pouring some hot water in her cup to let it steep. ”Oh you know the usual. Handing out assignments, grading, ushering students off the roof, and getting hoodwinked into playing poker with Benjamin.” As Edward asked her out this Saturday night she chuckled since she knew he had a boyfriend and was just joking. ”Unfortunately I must beg to be excused from your invite as I already have a prior engagement with Ms. Nezumi this weekend.”
------------------------
Black Red ringed eyes stared at the note she had retrieved from her mailbox. A gleeful smile jumped to her lips as she escaped to her room to get ready. She was excited to talk to Alice again. It wasn't everyday you ran into someone who could sign and also had the same Affinity for Fire. Reaching her room she placed her notebook, pencil and invitation on the couch. When she was in her room she basically bounced around as she tried to figure out what she wanted to wear. Remembering the dress Bridgit had bought her she went to her closet and sorted through it before finding the red dress and pulling it out to slip on. Using her fire affinity she zipped up the zipper on the back as she moved to the bathroom to put up her hair.
Once in the bathroom though she simple curled her black hair which glinted slightly purple in the light as she pulled a few of the curls back with a red flower clip. Happy with her appearance she left the bathroom and went to the door slipping on her normal tennies. She hadn't any shoes that would go with her dress unfortunately. Grabbing her notepad and pencil she headed out to the courtyard. Spotting the tea party she smiled and made her way over to Alice whom she gave a small curtsy to in greeting. Flipping to a new page in her notepad she wrote down some words and flipped it around for Alice to see. ”Thank you for Inviting me Ms. Alice!” After she had greeted the hostess she moved to an empty table and sat down. Placing some citrus and peach leave tea in a metal ball she placed it in her tea cup before pouring a bit of hot water in her cup to let the water absorb the flavors.

Alvion and Chrystaline strolled into the courtyard as a couple, a gallant air about them in their formal attire. Alvion wore tailored black suit pants, with a white dress shirt on top. His sword was in an ornamental sheath meant for military balls and his revolvers were fixed beneath his arms in an equally ornamental shoulder harness. While seeing Alvion dressed up in formal attire may have been a rare occurrence, few were likely to notice immediately. This was because of the radiant woman standing at his side, her arms wrapped around his.
Chrystaline was dressed in a full length white silk gown. It was ornately decorated with golden accents that sparkled brightly in the afternoon sun. As the blonde teacher moved, the golden accents seemed to leave glowing trails in the air around her, and when she stood still, the golden energy fluttered around her creating a radiant aura. What more, her expression was one of unconcealed happiness as she was allowed a true date with her husband for the first time in months.
The two approached Alice to greet her, as this was her party. "Good afternoon Alice." Chrystaline's tone reaffirmed her expression as she bubbled with joy. "Thank you for inviting us to your party." Alvion smiled warmly and nodded to the girl, before his wife dragged him off towards one of the empty tables.
-----------------------
The next guest stumbled in unannounced and claimed another empty table. Stealthily, the large man removed the lid of the tea pot and when Alice wasn't looking, emptied a bottle of questionable liquid inside. Content with his little addition to the menu, Benjamin poured himself a glass and took a seat, maintaining an innocent expression.
-----------------------
With a faint pop and some wisps of black smoke, Alexander appeared in the seat next to the twins. Compared to the attire of the rest of the guests, he was slumming it; not that he had much of a choice in the matter. Alex's clothes were two things: cheap and plain, a style that was a necessity for a poor family from the slums. It didn't help that his pride in being self sufficient made it nearly impossible for him to accept gifts from others, and so he had declined the offered attire and opted to simply ignore the dress code.
He leaned back in his chair until it was on two legs and put his feet up on the chair in front of him, giving the twins a salute. "Afternoon."
-----------------------
A dark trio flowed into the party with grace, and a refined air. Erebus's attire was largely the same, however the material was strange, and of a much higher quality. His white kimono took on an ethereal quality at the edges as it seemed to wisp and fade without a definitive end. The black hakama he wore on his lower half were of a similar quality. The black was so deep that it was likely made from pure dark energy, and indeed, a strange black smoke seemed to fall slowly around his legs, flowing about a foot along the ground away from his feet before vanishing into nothingness.
Eirika was dressed in a black one-piece dress made of the same material as Erebus' hakama. It gave her a mysterious feeling, despite her cute and innocent appearance. On her hands were a pair of white silk gloves that came to above her elbows. On the back of each hand was a thin, black eight pointed star. Wrapped loosely around her small form was Yuki, Erebus' blood dragon, who glowed with a dim crimson energy. Although Eirika appeared regal and composed, her arms and legs were shaking. If the grim but resigned expressions her brother and Veronica (who was dressed in her usual, but appropriate attire) displayed, the shaking was less to do with fear and more with the weak girl's fragile state. It seemed that the only thing keeping her on her feet at present was the rejuvenating magic of the blood dragon, who fretted over her with a concerned expression. The atmosphere around her was unmistakably dimmed in relation to the surrounding area, as Erebus protected her from the harsh sun with a shroud of darkness.
The trio stopped near the center of the courtyard as Eirika seemed troubled over the decision of where to sit.

As the party began to gain guests a girl in a green dress with bright red curly hair pulled back with a couple of clips to make it rest at the name of her neck. Unfortunately a few tendrils had gotten loose and were framing her face with their springiness. Her emerald eyes gazed around the tea party as she noted the guest who had attended. Rikka gave a small smile as her ears stood up in excitement. Looking beside her at the little five year old in the white dress who was skipping beside her. Finding a table to sit at she pulled a chair out for her sister as she climbed into her seat attempting to keep her dress all nice and neat without wrinkles.
Kiki looked up at her sister with her own emerald eyes as she grinned and was soon pushed in by Rikka. Keeping from swinging her feet back and forth she watched her sister pour the hot water into their cups before asking her what kind of tea she would like. ”Oh! May I have peach please!” Being handed a packet she quickly opened it and placed the tea bag in her little teacup. Looking at her sister Kiki mimicked her by stirring her tea every once in awhile.
------------------------
Out in the city a woman with Blonde hair and pale blue eyes was sitting in her house working at her sewing station. In her hands was a green shiny material that she was quickly sewing into a rather ruffly dress. It was only about a foot and 2 inches tall as she worked to finish it in time. As the time for the tea party inched closer she sped up her sewing and finished it after a few minutes. ”You don’t want the hat right?” Mekura looked over at the foot and a half henko baby as she practiced in the little fabric skirt cage that Mekura had made beforehand. Laying the dress out on the chair next to her she went up to her room to get ready herself. She would make final adjustments as soon as she was done.
Pulling out her dress she quickly changed into it and smoothed out the wrinkles. It was a cream color with pale green details and lace on it. Pulling out a pair of cream colored flats she pulled them on before going to her bathroom and with a flick of her wrist simply turned on the camera located on her mirror. Brushing her hair she pulled it up into a bun and curled the shorter pieces to frame her face. As an afterthought she pulled open one of her drawers and pulled out a couple of pale green fabric flower clips. Hooking them into the bun she checked her appearance one last time before back downstairs to check on Apple.
……………………………………
Apple was wandering around the room in the fabric skirt-cage, she was practicing walking and sitting with it, she didn't want to fall over at the tea party. Clover had help her put together a DNA strand for the day; She had white hair like Mekura’s that fell to her shoulder blades with a green headband in it, and green eyes to match her dress for the day. She curtsied to Mekura and said “No hat, just dress. Thank you Mekurie.” When Mekura finished the dress and left Apple ran across the room to the chair with the dress; She could figure out how it went on, she crawled into the bottom of the dress (the blue one in the picture) and and let it fall over her, she reformed a little as it slid into place and she made sure she’d put her head through the head-hole and she had it on correct. She giggled with joy and twirled a little waiting for Mekura to return. …………………………………
Mekura saw Apple in her cameras and grinned as she walked over to the small child and adjusted her dress a bit. Noting the hem needed to be let down a she grabbed her seam ripper and quickly let the hem on the bottom of the dress down before threading a needle with some more green thread and fixing the edges once more. ”Apple I am going to carry you till we get on School grounds alright?” As she waited for Apples reply she grabbed some of the leftover green fabric and fashioned a pair of green little slippers. Hearing Apple giggle and give the okay Mekura slipped the slippers on Apple’s feet and picked her up held her as she headed out the door. After making sure her door was locked she sped over to the tea party. Once she was near the Courtyard she set Apple down so the little Henko could walk in like she wanted to. Mekura gave a small wave to Alice as she flipped on some of the cameras she had placed around the courtyard. Finding Ben slipping something into Alice’s teapot at the table she blinked and decided she would babysit the overgrown child. She knew he could act his age he just chose not to most of the time.
Moving over to the table Ben happened to be sitting at she sat not next to him. Oh no she had learned her lesson, and simply sat a chair away from him leaving an empty space between them. Picking up the teapot as if to pour herself some tea she picked up the lid and peered inside feigning curiosity. ”Uh Oh. I will be right back Benjamin.” Standing up she took the teapot over to Alice and gave a smile. ”I’m really sorry Alice. It seems a few curious bugs have crawled into the teapot. Would you happen to have another one?”
Alice turn towards Mekura and heard that there were some bugs in the teapot “Oh yes, I’m sorry. One moment.” Alice took the old teapot from Mekura and handed it to Mint Bunny, who flew off with it towards the kitchen to have it cleaned and refilled. While he was gone Alice pulled a new teapot from a small box she had with extra china and refilled the new pot herself before handing it to Mekura with a smile “Here is a new, fresh teapot; sorry again about the insects, enjoy your tea.”
Mekura smiled watched at Alice moved to replace the teapot. ”Don’t worry. It was just a bit of bad luck for the bugs.” Nodding her head at Alice she went back to the table with Ben and sat in her original seat as she placed the new teapot on the table after filling her cup with Hot water. Plucking up a little metal ball Mekura filled it with some tea leaves that smelled of raspberries and green tea. Closing it she added it to the hot water in her cup to let the leaves steep. ”How have you been Ben?”
------------------------
Clover arrived at the tea party slightly later than she had wanted. She had been having problem choosing what dress to wear. In the end she had simply split herself in two and worn both dresses the twins had sent her. The dress that had been sent to her were a pale green and one had a silver bow, while the other had a gold bow. She had let her black hair braid itself with little silver and gold bows on the ends of the Clover’s braids. On their feet were pale green flats as her green eyes looked about the party. She had decided on green eyes since her blue ones wouldn't really match her dress. Looking around Clover took her other halves hand as she spotted the twins. Nervousness crept its way up her body as she tried to figure out where she would like to sit. It would probably be very apparent something had happened between her and the twins since unlike usual she did not go immediately to sit by them. Spotting Rikka and Kiki she moved over to their table and took up two of the empty spaces. Smiling Clover A struck up a conversation with Kiki while Clover B talked with Rikka about Rikka’s latest designs.

Alice was glad she had dressed up a little more than usual for this event as more guests arrived. She was wearing a corset under her her dress for the occasion, but knew she’d be the only one in a corset. Her dress was nearly floor length with several petticoats underneath and a white base, over which was a rose pink over dress with some ruffles and ruching. She’d removed the bow from the original design and had replaced it instead with a gathered rose. Her long hair was lightly curled, and had several small sections pulled back to frame her face, and create a small veil down the back of her head accented with small white pearls. Alice walked over to Ash smiling “Good afternoon Miss O’Shea. You are welcome to sit wherever you wish; I have set up a shorter table specifically for the Chimera’s just over there.” Alice said gesturing to a table that was much shorter than the rest which was set up like all the other tables, except it had bowls rather than cups, and a turntable in the middle that the Chimera’s could turn to access any pastries they’d like. “If you’re not sure who to sit with I recommend sitting with Miss Rikka and Kiki Soul, they’re very kind and also have a love of animals.” Shortly after speaking with Ash, Alice saw Briar walking over and curtsy, which Alice returned with a polite nod of her head, after reading Briar’s note Alice smiled and replied “You’re very welcome miss Briar, it is always a pleasure to be in your company. Please take a seat anywhere and enjoy the tea and pastries.” Alice was speaking to Mint Bunny about one of the teapot problems when she heard gasps from behind her, she turned gracefully to greet Alvion and Chrystaline and performed a small curtsy “Good afternoon Mr and Mrs. Nestario, It was my pleasure to host this small tea, I’m just so glad the two of you could come. You are both more radiant than ever. Please enjoy the tea and pastries.”Taighler and Taylour smiled as they saw Clover wearing both of the dresses they’d recommended, but their smiles fell a little as the Clover’s walked away and sat with Rikka and Kiki instead at a separate table It’s to be expected, she’s been avoiding us since the clubbing incident, but I think we can fix this…. They’re train of thought was interrupted by Alexander ‘popping’ into the seat beside them and leaning the chair back. “Hello Alexander, you’re lacking in the required attire for the event, allow us” The twins grinned and snapped their fingers, teleporting a simple black vest onto Alex’s person “There, that will cut it. It’d be extremely rude to Miss Kiraland to be inappropriately dressed for tea; you can return it after the tea.” The twins grinned, they’d grown fond of Alex, he was a good person and was somehow still successfully living with the twins antics, though it helped that they were all teleporters. Rikka and Kiki’s arrival didn’t go unnoticed by Alice, she did walk over and greet them and Clover. “Good afternoon Miss Udikne and Miss Rikka and Kiki Soul, are you enjoying the tea and cupcakes? Mint Bunny should be back shortly, I sent him on a short errand for me” Kiki noticed Alice advancing toward and waved enthusiastically as she greeted Alice in response. ”Hi Ms. Alice!” Rikka looked up at their roommate as Kiki greeted Alice. Giving her a smile Rikka gave a small wave herself. ”The tea and cupcakes are absolutely delicious. The tea party is spectacular.”The Clovers looked up at Alice and smiled. ”Yes the tea party is wonderful. Thank you for inviting us.” Clover A poured water in their cups while Clover B picked out two metal balls to place Snow Geicha White tea mix in. It was supposed to be light and refreshing cherry infusion with rose floral undertones. Placing the metal balls in the hot water they left them to steep. “I am glad that you are all enjoying the tea and snacks .Miss Kiki, the proper greeting would be ‘Hello Miss Alice’ I am not old enough to you to be Ms. . Oh, Miss Udikne, why are you not sitting with The Cielifreann twins, I thought you were quite fond of them, and I know they are rather fond of you.” Mint Bunny returned as Alice was speaking to Clover and the rest of the table. Mint bunny took his accustomed position seated on Alice’s head, carefully nestled in her curls so that he would not disturb them, or the small pearls. Apple giggled again as she was set down by the tea party and Mekura walked over to where Ben was sitting. Apple was going to follow her, but she saw Alice and decided to go say ‘hi’ instead. Apple ran over to alice and stopped near the edge of Alice’s dress “Hello Awice.” Apple said as she curtsied “Your dress is pretty. Oh, and thank you for the cupity-cakes.” Alice grinned at Apple’s little dress, and her attempt at manners and speaking “Hehe. You’re quite welcome Miss Apple. Let me help you find your seat, where you can enjoy as much tea and scones as you would like.” Alice walked with Apple towards Mekura and Ben’s table while Apple walked beside her, copying Alice’s posture and hand position. Alice reached down, not an easy task, and set Apple on the chair between Ben and Mekura. Alice then set one of each treat on Apple’s plate and poured some hot water into her cup with apple cinnamon spice tea in one of the tea balls and set it to steep. Stein walked into the courtyard carrying Damu, who was all cleaned, brushed, and was wearing a black bowtie on his collar, Stein walked over and formally greeted Alice, attracting many stares as she did before sitting at a table where Briar was already seated and set Damu on the grass to settle in, or to go sit with the other Chimeras, which he promptly did; he walked over all dignified and sat at the small tables using perfect manners while eating. Sitting at the table and pouring herself tea Stein was well aware of why she was drawing stares; Stein was wearing a white buisness style dress with black flats. She had pulled out a set of white elbow length gloves to class-up the dress a little and had actually put some time into styling her hair that day so that it was pulled out of her face with a small set of clips. Once seated at the table she made a mental note of who and what reactions had occurred as she pulled a small tea ball from the storage device in her pocket and set it to steep in her cup. Her tea was similar to what was being served, but had a different combination of herb in it which acted as a natural boost for the body. Alice felt a chill behind her as the Melanthios party entered the courtyard. She ended her current conversation politely and walked over the greet them. Alice bowed her head respectfully in greeting and said “Mr. Erebus, Miss Eirika, Ms. Veronica, and Yuki Melanthios, I’m so glad you could all attend my tea this lovely afternoon.” Alice saw the shroud of darkness shielding Miss Eirika from the sun and was glad she’d set up one of the table partially under the shade of a tree. Upon seeing Eirika unsure of where to sit Alice said politely “If you are unsure of where to sit you may enjoy sitting with Miss Kochou and Miss KieranStein at the table just over here.” Alice said gesturing to one of the closest tables where Briar and Stein were sitting conversing. “It is also partially shaded, which will help protect Miss Eirika from the sun’s rays and hopefully make her tea more enjoyable.”

As Alvion and Chrystaline began to chat quietly in a relaxed fashion, Benjamin grinned widely at his table's new guests. Once Mekura had finished swapping out the tea pot he had spiked, he stood and lazily made his way over to the chair on her left. Sitting back down with a contented sigh, he threw his right arm over the back of her chair and downed the rest of his cup.
"Good afternoon cute sensei-chan. I'm flattered that you'd choose to sit at my table out of all the others." Reaching over in front of her so that his arms encircled the smaller woman, he slowly unscrewed the cap on the flask in his right hand, and leaned back once it was open. "May I offer you an extra hit of flavor for your tea?
-------------
Alex was about to protest the twin's comment on his attire, but before he could they already had the vest on him. He grunted at their comment of being rude, before accepting the addition to his clothes and dropping the subject. Alex watched as Clover steered clear of the two and gestured towards her.
"Havin a fight with C squared over there?" He had seen Clover visiting with the two on many an occasion but as of late she had seemed to be avoiding the two.
-------------
As Alice greeted them, Erebus gave a slight bow while Eirika curtsied. "Thank you for inviting us to your party, Miss Kiraland." Eirika was composed, though her voice had a slight treble to it that hinted at hidden weakness. When Alice suggested a table, the small girl smiled in relief. "Thank you. That would be lovely." Veronica gently rested a hand on Eirika's back as the two slowly made their way over to the table. Erebus paused for a moment and gave Alice another small bow.
"I thank you for your attention and concern for my sister. I must apologize now, but I will be examining the beverages and confectioneries at our table before allowing Eirika to consume them. I hope that you will not take offense to this practice, as it is more of a common precaution than a show of distrust towards yourself." Excusing himself, Erebus joined the others at their table.
Taking the seat next to Stein himself, Eirika sat to his left with Veronica left of her. This arrangement put the small blonde deepest into the shade, allowing Erebus to slightly relax the shroud of darkness around her. Placing his right hand down on the table, the was a minute flare of energy as a black rune instantly drew itself out along the cloth.
"Good afternoon Eris, Briar. Please excuse my rude table manners, however certain precautions are necessary." The rune flashed with magic and a faint glow passed over everything within its boundary. Erebus remained still for a moment as he reviewed the rune's findings in his mind, before he lifted his hand and the magical seal vanished completely. Satisfied, he took his seat and nodded to Eirika, who happily reached out for a chocolate cupcake and began peeling off its wrapper.

Mekura glanced over as Ben moved to her left and was soon encircling her in his arms. He made it extremely hard to sip her tea. Taking the tea ball out she laid it on her saucer so not make a mess and used her tea spoon to give her tea a small stir before she decided to answer Ben.
"Unfortunately some people require a little babysitting. And no I rather like the flavor of my tea without any other additives." Mekura gave him a smile as she finally was able to take a sip of her tea. She would be lying if she said Ben's antics annoyed her. Actually she found him highly entertaining since he usually only acted as if he was drunk. Unfortunately if she let him know that he take it and run with it. Setting her tea cup back down, she moved in a blur to most eyes as she removed Ben's arm from the back of her chair and placed it in his lap the flask recapped.
----------------------------------
Clover looked slightly startled at Alice’s question. Due to her startelement the Clovers ended up speaking in unison as they tried to come up with an excuse that wouldn't sound fishy. Though due to Alice’s comment on their fondness of each other, the braid of Clover A’s hair started to turn red out of shyness. ”Well you see I just wanted to sit by Rikka and Kiki this afternoon.” It wasn't entirely untrue and was a very plausible idea. Though she could see from Rikka’s expression she didn't believe her. Kiki on the other hand was bouncing in her seat as she stared at something in Alice’s hair. Leaving it be the Clovers gave Alice a calm sweet smile.
The Clover's quickly pulled the tea leaves out of their tea and gave it a slight stir before they each took a sip of their tea. Happy with the flavor Clover A set about turning her hair fully black again. It took a few minutes but she successfully got her hair back to normal.
-----------------------------------
Briar looked up as the Melanthio's family joined her and Stein. She had been looking at Stein's dress which didn't look to bad on her. Flipping to a new page in her note book she quickly started writing on it. Flipping it around so everyone could see what she had written she gave a smile. "Good afternoon Erebus, Eirika, Veronica and Stein. How has your day been so far?" Briar watched as Erebus checked to make sure the food and drinks were safe and smiled. He was a good brother though she could have simply taste tested everything. Oh well. Taking a scone for herself she took a small bite and watched everyone from her seat.
-----------------------------
"Good Afternoon Miss Kiraland. Thank you for inviting us." As Alice made her suggestion and casually walked off to greet her other guests Ash looked over at the tables.First things first, she took the chimera's over to the table which had been set out for them. Kneeling down she set them up with some of the instant tea Alice had provided and pulled a book out of her storage device so that Mizu could sit at the table comfortably beside Snow and Rue. As Damu Arrived she also fixed him some tea of his choice. "Remember what I said." After getting their nods she stood up and brushed off her dress before joining the table Alice had suggested. "May I join you?" As the Redheaded woman, white haired child and the black haired twins gave their permission she sat in the last empty seat. Placing an apple spice tea bag in her tea cup she added a bit of Hot water to let it steep.

"Dear Academy teachers and students, You are all cordially invited to Miss Alice’s high tea tomorrow afternoon at 2 pm. The event will take place in the courtyard. Please dress semi-formally for the event. The Cielifreann twins have offered appropriate outfits if you lack one for the event.
Cordially yours, Miss Alice Kiraland"
Saya read the letter aloud to her master that afternoon. Kye was studying he grimiore as usual with no classes to teach/traumatize today. "Tea party? What is she, six?"
Saya laid the letter on Miss Cheshire's desk. "Shall I inform Miss Kiraland of our planned attendance?" she asked. Kye scoffed, "Tch, no, I ain't goin' to some lame tea party."
Saya looked at Kye in inquiry. "Is something the matter with them? What is this 'tea party' she refers to?"
Kye picked the letter off of her desk and held it over her trash bin. "It's this dumb activity where people, usually ditsy little girls, dress up in fancy dresses, sit at a table or something and drink tea. Y'know. A tea party. It's kinda self explanatory?"
Saya blinked. "Is that not enjoyable?"
Kye sighed, still holding the paper. "I dunno, never been to one, never gave a damn about them." Saya tilted her head. "Never?"
"Never."
Saya did not quite understand. She thought it was unlike her master to make an biased conclusion without ever going through the rest of the scientific process first. "How do you know what it is like if you have never tested it?"
Kye blinked and gave her servant a bemused look. "Huh?"
"Earlier you explained to me that scientists discover things about the world by using the scientific process," Saya said in a matter-of-fact way. "First, they are met with a question, noting the characteristics of the subject and inquiring their meaning for being so. Then they form a hypothesis, or rather, theoretical, hypothetical explanations of observations and measurements of the subject. Then predictions are made, with reasoning including logical deduction from the hypothesis or theory." She looked to the letter in Kye's hand which was hovering over the trash bin. "You say you have never been to this 'tea party'. Does that not go against the next step in the scientific process, the experiment itself? You seem to have skipped this crucial step and drawn a conclusion based upon bias."
Kye stared incredulously at Saya for a few moments before she let out a sigh of defeat and brought the paper to her face to read it. "Why is it the only one who ever listens to what I tell them without using fear tactics the one person who HAS to listen to me...?"
"Is that an example of a rhetorical question?" Saya asked as she stood there, waiting for her masters answer. Finally, after reading the letter to herself, Kye set the letter down into the spine of the Obsidian Grimiore as a bookmark and closed the tome.
"Alright, fine, you win," Kye said irratably as she pushed back her chair and stood up, stretching. "I won't stand to be accused of being a hypocrite in the eyes of science."
She looked over herself and Saya in terms of clothing. Did she even have any tea-party-worthy dresses? She didn't think so. Not even as a teenager at Saya's age (or rather, the age her should-be-dead body was in) did she ever attend such social gatherings. She was always busy caring for her family instead...
F%#ing great...I needed that depressing memory today, she thought. Recalling what it said in the letter, she said to her assistant, "I don't have anything that formal myself, let alone one for you. Guess we'll go and see if the twins can lend us something. After all, if we're gonna do this bull-uhm...experiment...we might as well do it right, yeah?"
Saya nodded. "Yes ma'am."
~~~
"Oh dear god."
Kye stared wide eyed at the entrance of the garden, taking in the arrangements and everyone's attire. Meanwhile, Kye herself was still wearing her black button up coat with fur cuffs, her pants whose legs were partially (and unevenly) rolled up and sandals, something FAR from anything formal, with Saya in her hoodie, shorts, and running shoes beside her.
This...I can't do this, Kye thought. F%^* the scientific method, there is no way I am doing this...I can't do this, no, I could, but I won't. Nope. Nuh-uh, not me, Saya can't make me, cause dammit, I'm the master and I get last say! I'll just order her to shut up about it and walk away before someone knows we're he-
Saya, having no idea of the mental rantings bouncing around her masters head, waved politely to someone who seemed to notice they were here.
"GodDAMNitSaya!" Kye hissed in a hushed tone.
**Disclaimer: All MekuraxBen stuff**
Ben raised his eyebrows as he studied the hand holding the flask as if he was confused as to how it got there. Letting out a short whistle, he leaned in closer to Mekura with a leering smile. “Ah, cute sensei-chan is gonna play hard to get!” Taking a hold of the top of the small, enchanted flask, Ben twisted it and a faint click could be heard. With a speculative look, he twisted through a few more clicks before stopping with a warm smile.
Reopening the flask, he passed it to his left hand so he could lean in closer to Mekura while supporting himself with his right. “You look like a wine person sensei-chan. Why not smell some of this, maybe give it a taste. You never know, you just might like it!” Ben held the flask out and smiled in a way that seemed to urge the blonde to drink.
Mekura gave a sigh as he let out a whistle and could just feel the leering smile he was giving her. And here they were back to him taking an inch and running with it. Hearing the clicks coming from his flask she blinked and couldn't hide the mild curiosity as one of her camera's zoomed in to see what he was doing. He always had interesting toys. Usually ones that held alcohol but still interesting. Seeing the speculative look he had she blinked and 'watched' him suspiciously.
Mekura blinked as the scent of Raspberry honey wine from the flask. It happened to be a wine she had at home because it was one of her favorites to drink while reading a book. Seeing the smile on his face as he tried to urge her to take a drink of it she shook her head, though she wouldn't have minded a glass of wine. "One its too early in the day, though that hasn't stopped you, and two I like to enjoy my wine while reading a good book." Gently she pushed away his offering and took another drink of her tea.
With a mischievous smile and in the blind spot of her cameras, Benjamin moved. As she was about to take a drink of tea, he tipped the flask deftly, pouring a portion of it’s contents into her teacup. Once his crime was done, he returned to the same position as before, maintaining his innocent expression.
Mekura noticed his movement too late as she took a drink of her tea. It now had a good dose of the wine so that her tea was barely noticeable. She also couldn't say anything cause she was pretty sure no one else would have noticed what he did. Setting her cup down as she finished getting a drink she attempted to kick him under the table. "You realize that innocent look only works when people can't tell what you've done, right?" She hadn't planned on drinking today. Picking up her cup again she took a sip this time.
Accepting the kick with a knowing grin, Ben chuckled happily. Rubbing his shin, he put the flask to his lips and threw back a large swig. “You just need to relax more cute sensei-chan. Lighten up a little, and take each day’s surprises in stride!” Relaxing back into a lounging position, Benjamin once again laid his right arm along the back of her chair. Covering the lower half of his face with the hand holding the flask, he began to giggle with a taunting look. “You better do it soon too. I think I might see a few wrinkles forming.”
Relax a bit more huh? She could relax she simply liked to do it in her own home. Feeling him lay his arm along the back of her chair again she was tempted to move it once more but decided to leave it be. Hearing him giggle she heard the teasing in his voice as he accused her of getting wrinkles. "Well If its only a few I see no harm in them. They say wrinkles can make a person seem wiser. Though I see it might be a bit false as you have some." A small smile appeared on her lips as she teased him back.
Ben turned away as his grin grew. Raising the flask to his lips, he made his comment before taking another drink. “In that case, you’ll be as wise as the headmaster in no time!”
Mekura finished off her ‘tea’ as he commented on her being as wise at the headmaster. It took a few moments as she tried to swallow, almost choking as he surprised a laugh out of her. ”I highly doubt anyone could be as wise at the headmaster.”
Benjamin laughed openly at her return. Glancing around as if to check who was listening, he cocked his head back towards her as he refilled her glass with straight wine. “Hmm, maybe I should rethink this idea. Afterall, I’d hate to think of the other old bag lurking around here lately as ‘wise’.”
Apple saw Ben and Mekura drinking a different tea then she was, and she wanted some, but judging by Mekura’s face she didn’t really want any of this sweet tea. Apple grabbed her now-empty tea cup and jumped down from her chair to sneak behind Mekura and tug on Ben’s sleeve. “‘Scuze me, may I have some of the sweet tea too?” Apple asked quietly holding her teacup out.
Without turning away from Mekura, Ben stealthily held his left arm holding the flask out behind him and half filled Apple’s cup. Grabbing the pitcher from the table, he filled her cup the rest of the way with water, diluting the wine to a more palatable vigor.
“Thank you.” Apple said grinning before she made her way back to her seat and set the cup on the table edge and climbed back into her chair to drink her ‘tea’.
Erk. Just the thought of Agatha made her smile disappear a little. Mekura had ended up getting her job put on the line several times since the woman had been put in charge. As her cup was refilled oh so casually she took a drink resigning herself to drinking with Ben this afternoon.
Mekura blinked as she heard Apple asking Ben for some of the 'sweet tea'. He wouldn't would he? And he did. Though she did notice he diluted it with water. "No more after that. Cause I will not be the one explaining why the baby henko had alcohol to Clover." Mekura gave him a disapproving look for giving Apple alcohol in the first place.
Ben winked at Mekura with a sly grin. “What doesn’t kill you makes ya stronger.” With his half hearted excuse made, Ben scoured the gathering for anyone else he could make a little, ‘stronger’. Glancing at Alvion and Chrystaline, he burst into giggles before cringing and turning away. Returning his attention to Mekura he nodded in their direction. “Thought about goin over to say hi, but I’m not sure how well that would turn out. Chrystal might just make good on her promise of heaving me from the school’s highest tower.”
"Or violently ill cause henko children don't have the proper enzymes to break that down yet." As he started to scour the crowd she noted the look on his face before he finally settled on Alvion and Chrystaline's seats. A smirk jumped to her lips as he cringed before it settled into a smile. "You might as well just stay here. I think Chrystal and Alvion deserve some time alone on their first date in months." Mekura's face softened as she thought of the love the two teachers shared. It was the kind of love she wouldn't mind having but she would never take the risk of putting her lover in harms way. Taking another sip of her drink she kind of wanted to go home and curl up in her big comfy chair.
Ben waved Mekura off dismissively. Pouring some of the wine out onto the tablecloth, he smiled and waved his hand over the top. There was a soft golden glow and once his hand passed over, only water remained. “You worry too much M-chan. You should trust your co-workers more.” With another suggestive wink, he placed the flask to his lips as his eyes sharpened into a highly alert expression. With a smile and a gulp of wine, the look vanished and he relaxed back once again. “I suppose you’re right about them though. You’re not the only one around here who needs to relax a little more.”
Mekura noted, through her cameras, as he spilled some of the wine on the table then simply waved his hand over it. She did have to say that was an impressive show of his power. As water was left in the place of the wine she silently approved before he addressed her trust issues. Well that wasn't her fault. It was simply how she had grown up. "Maybe when you quit pretending to be drunk I shall show a bit more trust in my co-workers." Mekura wouldn't admit it out loud but she probably trusted the people here more than she knew she should. She hadn't missed the alertness in his eyes or the subtle change in the air about him. Relaxing into the back of her chair she sipped her drink. "I think everyone could use a little more relaxing. Well unless their you who always seems to be relaxed."
Ben tsked gently and wagged his finger at her. “Whoever said I was pretending?! Alcohol affects me the same as the next guy. I just have certain,” He paused for a moment with a hum as he sought the proper word. “Attributes, that allow me to clear my head when needed.” The mischievous grin slowly snuck back onto his face. “In fact, those very same attributes can help me into the other direction as well.”
There was the slightest of changes; the faintest manipulation of chi. The alcohol in Mekura’s system doubled, tripled. As if the molecules were unfolding themselves, the mere glass of wine the blonde had consumed became closer to a bottle and a half. Benjamin giggled like a perverted old man as he leered at her knowingly. “Hey M-chan, M-chan! If you have any worries you’d like to get off your chest, or maybe if you need a more physical type of comfort, I’m always here for you.”
Mekura chuckled as he wagged his finger at her and got after her for assuming he wasn't drunk. It got a smile out of her as he found the word he was looking for. Suddenly she became suspicious as another mischievous smile appeared on his face while he spoke to her about his attributes working the opposite way also. Before she could warn him not to she suddenly felt rather tipsy bordering on being drunk. Before she could consume anymore of the wine in her cup she put it down on the table almost spilling it.
She had fallen right into Ben's trap. Hearing him giggle her own giggle rose up in her throat as she tried her hardest not to let the new alcohol get to her. As he called her M-chan again she looked at him and gave him a rather drunken glare. She decided she would let him know what she thought of him giving her nicknames...Unfortunately it didn't come out in common but in another language. "Meum nomen est non M-Chan Mekura ejus! Lorem nomen meum, et uti sciat." It was very obvious she hadn’t noticed her change of languages.
Apple finished drinking her tea cup of ‘juice’ and was going to ask for more, but Been and Mekurie looked busy, so Apple opted for a different option. Still standing she set her empty teacup by Mekura, and took Mekura’s cup instead, proud that she’d gotten what she wanted without bothering Mekurie. This ‘juice’ tasted stronger than her’s had though, there were more berries in it, she heard Mekura tell Ben something not in common. Apple exclaimed excitedly “Ooh, you’re using your lullaby words...pretty.” and Apple started giggling too as she set down her cup on the saucer, she liked this juice, and she liked Mekura’s lullaby voice.
Mekura blinked as she heard Apple beside her and was quickly sidetracked from chastising Ben. Turning her attention away from Ben she scooped Apple up as her whole aura seemed to soften. Instead of looking like a rigid gym teacher she was known for being she looked like a woman who just wanted kids. Cuddling Apple Mekura smiled as she cooed in Nigaran about how pretty Apple looked.
Ben’s smile only widened as he was chastised. Seizing the moment, he scooted his chair right next to hers and wrapped his arm around her back. “Ah forgive me Mekura. You had never said anything before so I had no idea you held such matters so dearly.” Ben’s smile faltered for a moment as he felt a suspicious glare burrowing into him. Glancing to the side, he noticed that Alvion was watching him with suspicious interest. With a small smile and a dismissive wave, he signaled for the other man not to worry about it. This only caused Alvion’s brow to further furrow, that is, until he was distracted by a glare of his own.
With a look from Chrystaline that might as well have said ‘I don’t care if the academy is on fire, you’re mine today.’ Alvion had no choice but to ignore his old friend’s schemes.
Slipping back into his warm smile, Ben pulled his newly appointed ‘afternoon friend’ in closer and made himself comfortable. Changing the setting on the flask to a much stronger whiskey, Ben threw back another swig. “So Mekura, how have things been lately. It must have been awfully stressful to have the old bag on your back all the time.”
Glancing back over to him as he responded to her already forgotten argument it took her a few moments to remember why she was chastising him. "Good! My mothers gave me that name." A sad look jumped to her eyes before she was distracted by Apple again. Mekura hadn't even noticed him get distracted by Alvion as she cooed at Apple over being so pretty. "Bella femina. I should make you more dresses!" Smiling happily she set Apple in her chair again and went to pick her cup up. Blinking she became confused as to why her cup was empty. She could have sworn it still had some more of her favorite wine in it.
Setting it back down she looked to Ben as he seemed to pull her in so she was right up next to his side. Now when had he done that? As his question she blinked and sighed before looking at her hands. "Lonely. The twins don't stop by as often since they started hanging out with Clover. As to Agatha....shes right. I shouldn't have made a mistake. I might be getting too comfy here." Mekura had taken to twisting her fingers together as her thoughts seemed to tumble out of her mouth. She was definitely a bit too chatty today.
Apple giggled as Mekura continued talking to her and Ben “ Oh, new dresses! I want overalls too, and a cool hat!...Oh, I come visit more too, with Blair!” Apple grinned being set down as she took another drink from her cup, this party was turning out to be more fun than expected. She finished her cup and asked “May I please have more juice, and another cupcake, please?”
With a smile and a few clicks of his flask, Ben poured his two companions another drink. Switching it back for his own preference, he paused as his expression became speculative. “Well,” he began tentatively. “I don’t think being comfortable is a bad thing. Agatha has been finding things to pick at with all of the staff. If it wasn’t one thing it would be another.” With a comforting smile, he rubbed her shoulder consolingly. “She’s not actually that bad of a person, er dragon, though. Playing the ‘hardman’ is just the way she’s most comfortable in helping everyone better themselves, not that I agree with it.”
With a sigh, Ben took another drink as he stared off into the distance. “Though, I can’t help but wonder if there’s something else on your mind when you say you’ve gotten too comfortable.” With a stretch, Ben grabbed a grape off of the table and flicked it at some passing students. He smiled when he nailed a poor first year girl in the back of the head and she looked around in confusion. “Everyone has their secrets, some more than others. I think life’s about finding someone to share them with. Well, that and relaxing as much as possible. Whichever comes first.”
Mekura picked up her cup as she was poured some more wine. Sipping it she closed her eyes and listened to Ben as he told her it wasn't bad to be comfortable. Her features took on a haunted look as she spoke almost inaudibly. "Get comfy, make mistakes, get killed, let them down." It sounded haunted and as if she had recited it one too many times. Another sip from her wine as she opened her eyes and pushed away from the haunted feeling as he spoke up about Agatha. "I know. She feels differently than when she speaks. Still she could be a bit nicer."
Hearing the wonder in his voice she bit her tongue to keep herself from talking even with the alcohol in her system. Watching him flick the grape at a few students she elbowed him in the ribs softly. "Don't do that." Hearing his view on life she smiled softly but sadly. "No one would want to share my life. They would take one look and run away screaming."
Benjamin heard her bleak comment but made no mention of it. Sitting in silence for a moment, he thought about what she said. “I think you should have more faith in the people gathered together here.” Taking a deep breath, he let out a contented sigh. “There’s not another place like this in the whole universe ya know! So many people of different types and beliefs all gathered together in the same place; I’m sure plenty of them have pasts that they think no one else could handle either.” Despite his smile, Ben’s eyes fell. “Everyone has times like that.” After a moment his energy returned as though it was never gone. “But, the fact of the matter is, this school, this wonderful collection of wonderful people, will never meet it’s match. Not in our lifetime at least.” Leaning back in his chair, Ben raised the flask to his lips as he tilted his head down so that his large straw hat hid his face from view. He subtly shifted his right arm from direct contact with her to the back of her chair, as though in preparation.
“Not in yours either.”
Mekura sipped the wine in her cup as she contemplated having more faith in the people around her. She guessed she was just afraid to put her faith in someone. She chuckled as he commented on the school being unique. Her mind briefly settled on his eyes which seemed to have fallen a bit as he spoke. "It is a wonderful school. I didn't think it would make it. But just look at it now. Flourishing with students getting along from all the other gates." Mekura reached over and patted his shoulder with one of her hands before setting her cup back on the table.
Listening to him talk about the school she rested her hands in her lap as she flicked off her camera wavelengths. They were starting to flicker and were getting annoying to her mental eyes. His last comment though caught her attention as her back stiffened and she gave him a suspicious look. ”And how do you figure that?”
“Hmmm,” Ben mused to himself as he traced his finger along the back of her chair, careful not to touch her carelessly. “Well, there are a number of people in this academy that are far older than they look, the two old bags among them.” Ben chuckled before adding, “As impossible as that may seem with all those wrinkles.” Pausing to drink, he proceeded in a slow and measured pace.
“All of the opinions I’ve shared over drinks with those of particularly aged perspectives have one thing in common. Never did any of them think that a place like this could ever exist with any semblance of order. The very idea of having enemies on either side of conflicts that span decades coming together and studying in one place seems like nothing more than a fairytale from their perspective, and yet here we are, having this conversation.”
Stopping again, Ben listened to the conversations of the students and teachers in the courtyard around him. There were so many different accents, dialects, languages and ideas, and yet somehow they all seemed to blend together naturally.
“To look in on this place from an outsider’s perspective, it must seem like a world existing on it’s own. Withdrawn from the political conflict and strife that accumulate when hundreds upon thousands of different worlds finally meet, and yet there are representatives from every single one of those worlds here.” Stopping again, Benjamin continued his habit of never finishing his thoughts.
A grin began to steal its way back onto his face. “Hey Mekura, do you like fairy tales?”
Mekura felt his hand moving behind her chair as she listened to him. Sighing in defeat she vowed not to drink with him again. Her tongue was getting much too loose. Sitting back in her seat she closed her eyes and listened to him talk along with the wisps of conversations from other tables. It was nice and peaceful.
Her mind was sent through images of the student body which represented everything that had been fought for over the years. It was definitely worth it. As he stopped once more she smiled since she knew he wouldn't be finishing that thought. Mekura could feel the grin weaving its way back on to Ben's face as he asked her a simple question. "I love them."
“Hee hee.” He chuckled aloud. “Well, let me see here.” Pausing once again to think, he allowed his arm to fall gently back along her shoulders. “Have you heard the tale that recounts the origin of the celestial capital, and the gods themselves?”
Mekura shook her head and gave a small smile of encouragement to continue.
“Ah, this was always one of my favorites!” He declared with a grin. “Let’s see, it all began with one simple idea. There are no gods.” Raising his head, he leaned in to nudge her and waggle his eyebrows, encouraging her to call him out on his contradiction.
Her eyebrows raised a bit as he seemed to contradict himself. Her eyes opened to look at him with playfulness. ”How can a tale about the origin and gods start with no gods?”
“Good question there Mekura!” Closing his eyes, Benjamin nodded sagely. “A wise teacher of the academy indeed!” Smiling, he opened his eyes to regard her with a playful look. “The origin starts without the gods, because there simply weren’t any. Many theorize that the sum total of all the forces and charges in the universe amount to zero. This means, that the universe was born, from nothing. Imagine the point of origin as just that, a point. It has no volume, no dimensions. It’s simply a way for us to identify a place of reference.
“Now, imagine I could grab onto that point of origin, that zero point, and pull it apart in opposite directions. A sort of balloon forms, filled in part with positive existence and in part with negative existence. That is how the universe was created. The force that made such a thing possible is unknown, but whatever it was, at that moment of initiation, there were no gods.” Pausing with a smirk, he waited to see if she was still interested.
Mekura had once again closed her eyes but was intently listening to his story. She always found new stories fascinating.
Satisfied that she was still listening, Benjamin continued. “Somewhere along the timeline of existence, sentient life developed. These original pioneers must have felt lost, alone as they were within their own little slice of existence. To help ease the burden of loneliness, they invented the concept of gods.” Pausing to sip at his drink, Ben wet his throat and continued. “Everyone can relate to the comforting feeling of having a parent or a guardian watch over them. This was no different. Having an ever present figure to guide your life was, no pun intended, a godsend.” Despite his declaration of no pun intended, Ben leered down at Mekura as though he was trying to embarrass a laugh out of her.
Mekura couldn’t help but chuckle over his unintended pun. As he leered at her she reached up and poked his nose.
“Well, as time passed, our ancestors developed, grew stronger and wiser. Of course, some developed far more rapidly and far more profoundly than others. These special few, even if they were individuals separated by trillions of light years, began to share a common feeling: a worm in the back of their minds. They just couldn’t shake the sensation of being alone or the desire to confirm the truth. It would be this feeling that drove them to seek out the gods their kinds had worshipped for so long. It’s at the end of their journey that they realize a truth so immense, it very well could have crushed their souls. There simply were no gods.
“One can only imagine the helplessness they must have felt. The permeating loneliness. ‘My people, my ancestors worshipped you for so long!’ They would cry out in frustration. ‘They spilled their hearts out to you every day, with the hopes that somewhere, someone, anyone was listening.’” Benjamin paused with an expression of feigned sadness to punctuate the emotions he was recalling through his story. After a short time, he quietly continued.
“Most of those special individuals were no doubt crushed beneath the weight of that overwhelming truth. Those that weren’t… Well that is where our story takes a turn for the interesting.
“‘I won’t accept this cold lonely truth.’ They would declare to no one. ‘I will not accept that this is all there is to be.’ They say as their resolution grows. ‘I, who have grown so much, become so powerful, and have traveled so far, will not allow this to be. If there is no one listening than I will listen. If there is no one to help and to guide, than I will be the shepherd. If there is no one to reward and to discipline, than I will be he who passes judgement.
“‘If there are no gods, then I will rise and become the first.’”
Mekura listened as he gave the story life. While he spoke small lights in her hands appeared and seemed to take on the figures of his story as she lost a bit of her control over light to her imagination. Her heart went out to the people in his story who had finally found out that there were no gods and one who dared to stand up. "He is very brave." She also had a feeling he probably may have been scared too.
“Yes, he is.” Ben acknowledged. “But Mekura, the emphasis of the story isn’t meant to be on one person. What it’s meant to show is that sentient life, we that can be called human, are capable of amazing things, even ascending to the point of godhood.” Stopping, Ben removed his arm from around her shoulders and turned his body towards her so that he could look out at the variety of students.
“This school is the stepping stone for the great minds and masters of tomorrow. When I think about that, I can’t help but wonder ‘How many of my students will one day be thought of as gods.’” Benjamin’s expression fell slightly as he stole a glance at the table where the Melanthios were sitting. “There might even be one or two who are thought of that way now.” With a sigh, he straightened himself out in his chair and wrapped his arm back around Mekura. “Compared to the worries of a god, our problems don’t seem so bad. So, the point I’m trying to make is this.” With a strong grip, Benjamin pulled her into a tight embrace. “If you wait until your worries eat you hollow before asking for help, it will already be too late.” With a big smile, he used his free hand to ruffle her hair. “Even though I’m lazy, I wouldn’t mind if you depended on me from time to time.”
Mekura listened as he explained the story. It was interesting how sentient life had ascended to a godlike status. Through nothing but the need to help guide people in the right direction. It made her think of the students whom she had in her classes while she felt Ben pull away and turn towards her. Though she knew he wasn't looking at her but at the students passed her as he spoke once more. Blinking she gazed at him with curiosity as he spoke of the students who might be thought of as gods. It was an interesting thought. It set her mind to thinking about how her students performed in class and onto one student in particular.
She was quickly pulled out of her thoughts as he wrapped his arms around her seemed to decide he had a different point by telling her this story. Pulling into a tight embrace she blinked and seemed to freeze up for a moment as her mind sobered up almost instantly as her training kicked in. Of course she stopped herself from making him let go and very very hesitantly hugged him back. As her hair was ruffled like a child's she pulled back slightly taken aback. At his offer she blinked in surprise before returning her hands to her lap and seeming to get...shy. She wasn't quite sure how to deal with this new emotion.
Horo passed the mirror for the 4.67522345x10^95 time that morning still unsatisfied with her appearance. She had tried on 20 different outfits and each with different assortments of charms and accessories she had obtained through slightly illegal methods. She flipped her hair and examined the dress she was in once more, pink, flowery and obviously Jena’s. Horo cast it off her skin and stood debating in front of her closet. She tossed a white blouse over her head and pulled a red and black plaid skirt onto her hips. She checked herself in the mirror once again, still dissatisfied. She abandoned the blouse and put on a red fitted tee with her club logo on the left breast. Horo spun back in front of the mirror and with a relieved cheer gave her mirror-self a high five.
She casually left her office, which had become her home, and made her way out of Kakuzetsu and then the gym. Once she stepped outside, Horo had to shield her eyes from the bright sunlight as she entered the courtyard. “HELLO WORLD! I know you have been waiting for the guest of honor to arrive, and here I am. Gaze upon me in the bright sunlight!”
Mikoto walked around the corner and entered the courtyard from the east. Her new wooden sword was in its purple silk sheath, resting comfortable in her hand, her eyes were focused, searching the crowd for her host. Miko bobbed and weaved through the crowd until she reached Alice, giving her a bow. ”I am honored to have received an invitation to your tea ceremony. Are there requirements for your gathering? Assigned seating, weapons restrictions?” Miko looked down at her sword, the thought of departing with her new blade tore at her heart. She turned and looked around the crowd, The Melanthios were present. They would be interesting to talk to.
Alice was smiling as she oversaw the tea party and saw to her guests. She sat The Centar brothers at a table with the Tsuki sisters, leaving Seth and Jacob to complement the ladies on their opposite black and yellow dresses. While Aisla teased Jacob about the feathers and beads in his hair, phrasing it as a flirt, Allis asked Seth about their cultural significance. A small wheel-less chariot flew by above, pulled by 6 multi-colored butterflies; drawing many gasps and squeals of delight; Dewdrop had arrived. She landed the chariot at one of the empty tables and disembarked. She was wearing a fully-bloomed, light pink-ish purple upside down rose as a skirt with two smaller petals crossing in the front to create a sweet-heart neckline; the entire dress was shimmering slightly because of the extra pixie dust on it to help Dewdrop fly in it. She had her hair pulled back with a tiny pink rosebud to match the dress. She turned to quietly thank the butterflies as they fluttered free of the chariot and flew off toward the garden to join their friends for lunch. She flew gracefully over to Alice and bowed midair “Thank you for inviting me to this tea party! May I please be allowed to sit on the table because I’m so short?” When Alice said that she may Dewdrop thanked her and fluttered back towards her currently empty table. Alice continued greeting guests and mingling through the party, pausing often to make polite conversation. She smiled as Erebus apologized in advance for examining the contents of the tea table. She did not mind overly much, while it would have been lovely for Erebus to trust her enough not to examine the food she knew that he was overly cautious, and for good reason. Alice spotted Ms. Cheshire and Miss Saya entering the courtyard and walked over to greet them. “I’m so glad you could come, you must excuse me for a moment however, I have some details I must attend to.” she smiled sweetly and walked off towards one of the tables where there was a ruckus occurring. The twins both took a sip of tea and answered Alex in unison. “Yes, we are fighting with Clover. We didn’t quite see eye-to-eye on a particular issue.” They then politely excused themselves from the table and walked over to greet Kye and Saya since they’d seen her waving to them, or someone she recognized. Taylour picked up and kissed Kye’s hand as Taighler picked up Saya’s hand and kissed it. “Good afternoon ladies, you are both beautiful this afternoon, but you are dressed inappropriately for the event, allow us to assist” The twins both snapped their fingers and teleported Kye and Saya into appropriate dresses and out of their previous attire. They’d ‘dressed’ Saya in a lovely grey dress with golden yellow accents and Kye in a radient yellow dress to match Saya’s dress accents. “There we go, you’re dresses both bring out your eyes beautifully.” As they were speaking Edward walked up behind them and greeted them with a polite bow “Good afternoon gentlemen, I was wondering if I may cut in and escort these two darling buttercups to a table. I’d hate for them to be without seats at such a lovely party. Ladies.” He finished as he threaded his arm through Kye and Saya’s arms and begun walking back towards his table where he was sitting with Ms. Salem. The twins grinned watching Kye and Saya being lead towards one of the table We’ll rescue her later if necessary They’re heads swiveled when they heard Horo announce her presence to the courtyard. They grinned and walked over to Horo “Careful Horo, if you shine too brightly you’ll blind the entire courtyard.” They looked down at her short skirt and send a short message to Blair, asking if she would please lengthen Horo’s skirt 6 inches. Blair agreed to and the twins grinned as the skirt shortened for a moment before lengthening to rest just above the knee. “There we go, it would have been a grave offense if Alice had seen your too short skirt. You might have been asked to leave the party. We must be off to continue mingling, it was a pleasure speaking with you” They concluded as they bowed slightly and walked off towards one of the center tables. Alice finished dealing with the table and walked over to greet Horo politely. “Good afternoon Miss Whitetail, I’m glad you could take time out of your busy schedule to attend my high-tea. Please enjoy the tea and pastries and enjoy your afternoon.” Alice turned to greet Mikoto next since Alice had noticed her enter the courtyard. As Mikoto bowed Alice returned the gesture with a polite nod of her head, she smiled as Mikoto took the time to ask about any additional requirements for her tea. I am pleased that you came Miss Sephora. No, there are no special rules or requirements for the tea, but I’d ask that you please refrain from using your sword for combat during the event.”Flying Mint-green Bunny flew off of Alice’s head to go greet other people; he was looking for Briar and knew she had to be somewhere. He finally spotted her sitting at a table with Stein Erebus, and who must have been Eirika; he’d never met the Melinthios family before, but Alice knew about them and had told him about their family and history, he found it sad, but figured that Eirika would probably be able to see him and would smile. Mint Bunny flew over and hovered between Briar and Stein and said “Good afternoon, is everyone enjoying the tea, or does anyone need more sweets or hot water?” He knew most people couldn’t hear him, and even fewer people could see him in his Mint green glory all decked out in his dapper vest, hat, and monocle, but he greeted the entire table anyways so as to not be rude. He quickly flew around the table and went to land on Eirika’s head, but he wasn’t paying close attention, causing him to settle instead on Erebus’s head. He quickly settled in and was quietly sipping tea from a small tea cup and nibbling on a petite-4, being careful not to create crumbs. (His cup and cookie are invisible if you can’t also see him. They’re imaginary, but real to him) Stein waited till Erebus finished scanning the table and retook his seat before speaking to greet them. “Good afternoon I’m glad you could make it today; I thought Eirika may have been too weak to attend this little event. Eirika, I have some herbal tea you’re welcome to try, it has a slightly bitter flavor, but that can be fixed with cream and sugar. It’s particularly useful for keeping up the body’s immune system.” Stein picked up her cup and took several sips before placing it back on the saucer; she wasn’t very good at real polite conversation, she could fake it when speaking to people at science conventions, but not when speaking to other ‘real’ people.
Alex waved the twins off. "Well whatever. Don't fight for too long. Fighting takes energy." As they left, he reclined further in his chair and pulled some snacks closer to eat as he lounged.
-------
Eirika sat humming to herself as she nibbled slowly on some snacks. She'd been feeling progressively worse for the past few days, but wasn't about to let that stop her from attending a fun tea party! It was as she was looking around at the other guests that she noticed mint bunny. She gasped and a big smile spread across her face as she began to bubble with excitement.
Erebus regarded his sister with a curious eye as her excitement grew. He could sense mint bunny's presence, and when it landed on his head, he put all of the clues together. "Dark Will: Six Aspect Seal." There was a surge of darkness as a complex magical rune engulfed mint bunny. It locked instantly, sealing mint bunny's movement as well as his very essence. Erebus began to reach for the small creature, but was surprised when Eirika sprang to her feet.
"Stop it! Don't hurt him!" Lunging for his head, she grabbed onto him as she reached futily to save Mint Bunny. Sighing Erebus leaned down so she could reach and dispelled the seal. Grabbing onto him gingerly, Eirika returned to her seat and set him softly on the table. "Hello! I'm Eirika. Brother didn't hurt you did he?" Veronica was leaning onto her arm, the boredom evident on her face.
"Oh?" She said in a dull tone. "Is that the avatar? I wonder if he actually tastes like mint." Eirika moved a teacup between Mint Bunny and Veronica and stuck out her tongue, making a 'nyah' noise. Veronica merely smirked and turned away.
As Eirika was now distracted for the immediate future, Erebus turned to Stein in her stead. "Thank you Eris, I would be grateful for your help. However, as with all of these sorts of things I'm forced to impose on you with the same strict caution." Reaching out, Erebus tapped his finger on the table cloth and a complex seal instantly drew itself out. Although it was flat, it's complexity exceeded far beyond the second dimension as it gave the illusion of sinking deep beyond where the table began. "Please set all new consumables on the seal so that I may assure it's suitable for her constitution. Unfortunately it's not only attempts at poison we have to fear. There are simply some things that her body disagrees with."
Still wrapped around Eirika, Yuki peeked up over the edge of the table, regarding mint bunny with curiosity.
Seeking some form of entertainment, Veronica turned to Briar with a mischievous smile. "Wanna play a game?" She asked, still using a disinterested inflection. Tapping the table, there was a burst of black smoke that quickly settled, revealing a multileveled board, vaguely reminiscent of a chess board. It was populated with a myriad of small figures that appeared to be demonic or void in nature.
(The game is a fictional one but might be something common in this universe. It's essentially a strategy game where you command the units over the board, while setting traps and buffs through various means, with objective of defeating your opponents 'arch' as in arch-demon or arch-mage or what have you. The pieces are aspected....meaning Veronica's units are demon or void aspected, but if Briar chooses to join her units will represent her own aspect.)
It was a ludicrous thought, the idea of it even occurring nearly destroyed her mind. If she had been less of a woman she would have stood there with her mouth agape but this was no ordinary woman: this was Horo Whitetail. She spun 360 degrees and struck a pose for those attended; her body held still for a moment, allowing time for pictures to be taken, before she relaxed her muscles and relaxed her arms to her sides.
“Do you really think I, the Great Horo, can stop shining brightly?”
Sharp body movement accompanied her speech as her hip popped to the left and her hand rose to sit atop it. Her body righted itself as her skirt shrunk, then grew a few inches longer than it had been. Face scrunching up, Horo gave the twins a glare knowing it had been by their hands. Alice would have asked Horo to leave? The small club president refused to believe that would be the case and was about to refute the twins before they bounded off to mingle with others.
“Now… What to do?” she asked herself as if she would think of something only if the question was made vocal. Her eyes darted left, right and left again before she had found a suitable destination. Her foot had only begun to move when she felt the air vibrate with her name. With a graceful spin Horo performed a curtsy to Alice, using the context clues of her sentence to devise her identity.
“It has always been a pleasure of mine to grace others with true beauty.” Horo stopped and thought, “Grace is the literal translation of … this style of event in my language.” While the moments had become sparse, Horo still suffered from Anulupis cultural and linguistic differences. Her tail lashed back and forth as she slowly became annoyed with the new length of her skirt. The fabric was rubbing against her fur unpleasantly, causing Horo’s face to twist into visible annoyance. “I’ll need you to excuse me. I have to take care of a recently developed dilemma.”
Horo retreated into a remote location and began fixing her wardrobe malfunction. She adjusted her skirt so that her tail was exposed from the top, forcing the skirt to sit lower on her hips than before. “That is much better.” She confirmed lasher her tail playfully back and forth. With a renewed vigor Horo rejoined the party and began speaking with the first person who noticed her.
"We're leaving."
"Ma'am?"
"Right Now!" Kye urged, about to shove Saya the other way, as if trying to sneak them both from the vicinity when Alice walked over to meet them. "Ah, uhm, hey, there," she greeted awkwardly in return. As the host made her way to another table, she babbled, "No worries! You go do that..."
Turning to Saya, she muttered, "Okay,we came, we observed, let's get out of-" Feeling her hand being lifted and kissed, she cast a shocked look at the twins before quickly composing herself once more. After having their new dresses teleported onto them, Saya gave Taighlor a nod bow of the head and said, "It is beautiful. Thank you."
"Y-yeah, thanks," Kye said before Edward slipped in from behind them, greeted them, and before long, Kye found herself led to a seat at a table with him and Blair. "Good afternoon Miss Salem," Saya cordially greeted. "Hey," came her master's less enthusiastic greeting.
A boy about 4'7'' with 12 inch bunny ears walked into the courtyard as he looked around with red eyes as if searching for someone. His black hair was brushed and the hair on his ears was mainly black but had white spots on them. His clothing consisted of nice slightly two big black slacks held up by a belt and a white button down long sleeved shirt. Noting the amount of predators in the crowd he almost turned around and fled. He wasn't good with people and predatory natures but he was looking for his friend. As it was a young Anulupis seemed to spot him and began talking. This caused him to jump out of fright due to her being a predatory creature sending him fleeing into the crowd.
A 4’5” girl walked calmly into the courtyard, though her heart was racing. How am I going to be able to hear everyone at once? The girl sighed at she started searching for an empty table, she was wearing a pale yellow sundress that Mekura has insisted on her borrowing for the party today. She had found a straw-sunhat to cover her ears with a pale yellow ribbon tied around it. She had on a red necklace which didn’t match anything she was wearing that was housing several microphones so hopefully she’d be able to hear anyone speaking to her. As she was walking around she bumped into Horo. “Sorry” she signed as Horo noticed her.
Briar watched as Erebus sealed Mint bunny, but before she could do anything Eirika sprang to the bunny's defense. Feeling it would be okay she looked at Veronica as she asked her if she wanted to play a game. Nodding her head she watched at the board was summoned and her eyes got wide. She had been wanting to try this game out but she didn't have the money for the board. Her own small figures appeared on the board appearing Magical and mischievous in nature. Allowing Veronica the first move the game commenced.
Blair smiled as Kye was sat next to her at the table. "Good Afternoon Saya. Hello Kye. How has your research gone?" Blair's eyes traveled down Kye's body as she found the dress suited Kye. It showed the Kye indeed had curves and Blair liked them. Smiling she quickly filled Kye's cup with the coffee that Alice had provided at the table.
-------------------------------------------------------------------- [Mekura-Ben stuffs]
Ben made a sweeping glance around the party. His finger began to tap on Mekura’s shoulder, as though he were growing antsy; antsy at not having caused any mischief in quite some time, that is. Cycling through face after face, he used his impressive (and most often squandered) talent of analyzing targets at a glance, to predict their possible reactions to any of a hundred different possibilities. Finally his eyes settled back on Mekura’s cute little face and he couldn’t contain the devious smile that formed. She was just too much fun after all.
“Hey hey, cute sensei, don’t you think this party could use a little livening up? Some entertainment to enjoy as we chat and snack?” With a glint in his eye, Ben moved. In a strike far too quick for most students to be aware of, he drew his katana, removing three legs from Mekura’s chair (the two left legs and the back right one), and sheathed the blade behind his back, before tucking it into his obi as if it had never been touched. Mekura was left with two choices: topple towards him and stay up only by passionately clinging to his chest in an act of out-of-character compassion and moe!, or spring to her feet and signal the start of a highly amusing confrontation of sorts. Regardless of her choice, Ben intended to have a great deal of fun with his cute little sensei today.
Meanwhile, Alvion very nearly choked on his tea as he noticed his friend’s bold move from the corner of his eye. He had the beginnings of a thought at intervening before a loving smile, that hid the malice and promise of certain death, should he move from his god’s be damned chair, froze his mind over until he was helpless to do anything besides commenting calmly on how pleasant the weather had been lately.
Mekura looked up from her lap and her thoughts as he started tapping her shoulder with antsy. She knew it was because she was keeping him from playing pranks and causing a bit of chaos at Alice’s tea party. Still unsure of what the new emotion was she missed the devious smile he had given her as she cleaned out her empty cup with a napkin before pouring some hot water into it with a peppermint tea teabag.
At his words she became hyper aware of the tone in his voice, just as he moved. Before she could stop him, three legs on her chair were missing and she was sliding right into him. Going to stand up she found her balance was quite off from the alcohol she had consumed earlier and fell into him anyways. Though with her momentum and having no chair beneath her anymore it, would probably send them both crashing to the ground him beneath her.
With a smirk at the success of his plan, Benjamin executed a movement similar to the motions taichi, redirecting the momentum of Mekura’s fall and guiding her towards him and up. She finally came to a halt in an upright position, sitting on his lap and leaning close against his chest. Grabbing one of the cookies from the trellis on the table while wrapping his left arm around her back, he held it up to her mouth.
“Now close your eyes and say ah!” Many of the students began to take notice of the odd predicament Mekura was in. However, as soon as they noticed whose lap she was in, and the state of the chair to the perpetrator's right, no one could possibly mistake the scene they were witnessing. In fact, most dismissed it out of hand, with nothing more than a few sympathetic chuckles and whispers of ‘Poor Miss Nezumi.’
Finding herself leaning against Ben’s chest in an upright position she blinked. As he held up a cookie and told her to close her eyes and say aw she moved definitely too quick for any students to see and sent an elbow towards his ribs.”I will not!” Sitting up so she was no longer leaning against his chest. Her cheeks tinted pink at her own predicament and it only made it worse by the sympathy from the students around her. She kind of wished she could disappear to her cozy chair at home. Flipping on her cameras she zoomed in on their table and knew there was no help from the chair he had killed. Eyeing the chair on his left she attempted to get up and move to it.
Apple finished her cup of ‘juice’ and couldn’t ask for more because Mekura was sitting on Ben’s lap. She knew which pocket Ben kept his flask in though, she hopped down and tried to relieve Ben’s pocket of the flask quickly.
“Now now Mekura, there’s no reason to play hard to get. You’ve already got my full attention.” Grabbing her around the waist with his left arm, he pulled her back into a sitting position. Before she could protest, he popped the cookie into her mouth.
Reaching into his breast pocket, he pulled out a dummy flask and handed it down to apple. It contained a myriad of “juices” as well, but none of them were alcoholic.
Smiling at his captive, Ben locked his right arm with his left around her waist, keeping her in a very loose embrace. “Now, can I offer you another drink, Mekura? Or, should we skip the fanfare and go somewhere private instead?”
Pulled back into his lap she tried to protest and had a cookie stuffed in her mouth. Glaring at him she pulled the cookie out and set it next to her tea. “Benjamin Fiore! I can sit in my own chair.” Crossing her arms she glared at him. She was not going to squirm, mostly because she knew he would get enjoyment out of that.
“Now Mekura,” Ben began in a singsong tone. He pulled out his flask, twisted the top a few times and then added a dash of something to her tea. “Since your chair seems to have malfunctioned, and as a gentleman I simply can’t allow you to stand and suffer, I must insist that you allow me to pamper you.” Picking up a napkin and dabbing at the corners of Mekura’s mouth as though to wipe them, he then grabbed the cookie again. Holding it up again, he began to gently tickle her side with the hand still wrapped around her. “Now open up!”
“Do not ‘Mekura’ me. There is a perfectly fine chair to your left that I can sit in and you know it!” As Ben began to dab at her mouth she swatted at his hand. “And quit adding stuff to m-” She was cut off as he started to tickle her side in order for him to feed her the cookie. Smacking at the hand trying to tickle her she glared at him. “I will not!” Once again Mekura attempted to stand up to move to the chair on their left.
Placing down the cookie as she struggled, Ben wrapped his right arm around her as well in a loose hug to prevent her from standing. “Now settle down, there’s no need to be embarrassed.” Discreetly tapping the chair to his left with his foot, Ben poured a small amount of energy into it and with nothing more than a glance it rocketed off into the distance. “I don’t know what chair you’re talking about, but there clearly isn’t one to my left.” Pulling her in closer, he leaned forward to whisper directly into her ear. “I’m also not opposed to getting rid of every free chair at this party.” Showing her a devious grin, he began to poke at her sides and stomach with his second hand as well. “And if you continue to struggle I may be forced to resort to more drastic means!”
Mekura blinked at the chair rocketed off with a mere glance from him. She was never getting off his lap. As he whispered into her ear she sighed and clearly was giving up on getting off his lap. "Ben. You owe Miss Alice two chairs now." As he continued to poke at her sides though she started to squirm. He had hit several ticklish spots. "Fine I will quit struggling but you have to quit that!"
“Oh no, what to do?” Ben questioned to himself. “On the one hand she says she’s not going to try to run anymore, but on the other hand I do so love watching her squirm!” Finally stopping, he increased the strength of his hug pulling her into his chest again. Leaning down with happily closed eyes, he started to rub his cheek on the top of her head in glee. “Oh I always wanted to hold wittle M-chan in my lap and just wodey-dovey her all day! I’m going to have to find and thank Alice later for this opportunity.” His excitement continued to grow as he smothered Mekura with affection. Around them, many of the students started to flush with mixtures of embarrassment and anger; embarrassment at the continued trouble making of Ben, and anger at having the object of more than a few crushes so openly fawned over. Several of the older boys continued to glare at him, as their tempers slowly rose to boiling.
Mekura squeaked as he hit a rather ticklish spot before he finally Quit. Glaring at him she went to grab her cup but was pulled tightly against his chest as he rubbed his cheek on the top of her head with glee. Giving up on keeping her hair in a bun she reached behind her with her left hand and pulled it out quickly along with the flowers she had put there. Setting them on the table she felt the jealous stares from some of the boys. Her camera's caught their faces and she knew they were getting quite close to their limits. Her lips didn't even move as she sent a message to the boys who were becoming jealous.
"Start something here and you will end up in detention."
Reaching up she flicked Benjamin's forehead. "Quit inciting their jealousy."
Pulling away, Ben looked down at her with feigned innocence. “Jealousy? What do you mean, who’s jealous.” Gesturing obviously towards where Alvion was ignoring him with some difficulty, he continued. “Alvion’s definitely not jealous. He’s got his own lovey dovey time after all.” Smiling a knowing grin, he continued. “Since he’s the only other real man nearby, I don’t see who there is to be jealous. After all, everyone knows there could be no other man for you besides me!”
At a nearby table, one of the older boys reached his limit. Slamming his hands down, he stood up and pointed angrily at Ben. “You tryin to pick a fight old man?!” Discreetly, Ben grabbed a cookie from the table, ignoring the question entirely.
“Even if someone was jealous, you don’t have to worry about a thing. You’re my cute sensei and I won’t let anyone get between us!” With a slight charge of energy and a flick of his finger, the cookie rocketed off behind him. It impacted hard on the boy’s forehead, bursting into crumbs and leaving a faint blotch of jam.
“Ben…” Mekura’s voice held a hint of her own temper as he continued to purposefully jab at the male students. “Wait, who says there is no other?” Hearing the boy’s chair move she looked in his direction and leveled him with a stare she reserved for disciplining Students. “Sit down now.”
Trying to catch the cookie as it went flying she just barely missed it. “Benjamin! Don’t pick on younger students and who the hell said I was yours?”
Chuckling, Ben shook his head dismissively. “Never fear Mekura, such a trivial concern is as plain to everyone as Alvion’s temper! Why, just the other day I heard a group of students whispering amongst themselves, and you know what they said? They said, ‘Man, that Alvion really has a stick up his ass lately. He never spends anytime with Chrystaline and is always running off to discipline the female students.’” In the distance, Alvion’s cup shattered in his hand. He began to stand up, but his temper was quickly pacified by a cold smile from Chrystaline. Needless to say, he sat back down and did his best to ignore the not so subtle instigation. Ben continued his story.
“They then went on to say, ‘Yeah he’s nothing like Benjamin. At least Ben is always on top of things! Boy, him and Mekura should just go off and get married already. Everyone know’s they’re perfect for each other!’ It went exactly like that!” Laughing uproariously to himself, the student who was dazed by the cookie strike recovered just in time to hear the tall tale. Shaking with fury, the wind began to pick up around him as his friends all moved to stand near by.
“Benjamin quit!” Mekura knew he was just trying to instigate things and was getting a bit tired of it. As the student recovered from the cookie his temper seemed to snap again. This time the wind picked up and his friends came to his side. Before Ben could even think to tighten his grip on her she was in front of the male pushing him back into his chair.
”Calm Down this minute before I give you something to be angry about. This is a social event that Alice has tried her hardest this evening to put on.” Turning around she moved back to Benjamin. ”You quit instigating thing! I was happy to play along until you started getting these boys riled up. Either tone it down or you and I are leaving.” Her voice was steely and ice cold as she stared at Benjamin daring him to try anything else.
Alice calmly walked over to the table where Ben and Mekura were causing quite a fuss. “Excuse me, Mr. Fiore, Ms. Nezumi, is there a problem? The two of you are causing quite a ruckus and disrupting the tea. Do I need to rearrange seating?” She finished politely. These two were interrupting the entire event. Alice blinked and looked down at the two broken chairs on either side of Ben, both obviously destroyed on purpose. “Mr. Fiore, why are two of my chairs in shambles on the ground?”
“Oh, good idea! That’s exactly what I was thinking too!” Smiling Ben made his way over to Mekura as he winked to Alice. “I have no idea what you’re talking about Alice dear. Maybe they were just a bit too overused.” Reaching Mekura, Ben swept her off her feet into a bridal carry in a single motion and began laughing uproariously to himself as he made his way towards the exit of the courtyard. “Boy, today sure was fun little Alice, but Mekura and I have a more,” Pausing to pretend to struggle to find the right word, Ben twisted his expression in contemplation. “Adult fun to be had by ourselves. Ha ha ha! To think the day is so young and already going so well!”
Mekura froze as he scooped her up bridal style giving her no room to rebuke him as he spoke to Alice. Finally getting her wits back together she glared at him and struggled until she was out of his arms and standing on her own. “Benjamin that was highly inappropriate and was very unfair to Alice since she had put the tea party together all by herself.” Seething with coldness and anger she stalked off toward her gym where she might as well do some work to calm herself down. Plus she was hoping that Ben would get himself lost in her anger.
The Clovers blinked as Mekura yelled at Ben before stalking off. Curious as to what she was mad about the Clover with Gold embroidery got up and went to grab Apple to have the child join their Table.
