Ajax and Rikka soon arrived at the cafe called StarDucks. Ajax suppressed a laugh at the name of the building “We really have one of these here? I’m surprised.” He held the door open for Rikka to enter and followed her up to the counter. Try as he might, he couldn’t help but gaze down below her belt line for a few seconds as she walked. His eyes snapped back up to the boy behind the counter as Rikka placed her order and he placed his.
Ajax led them to a seat and smoothly slid into the booth. He took a sip from his black coffee before asking Rikka. “So, what year are you in school?”
Rikka lead the way across campus as she felt her muscles starting to shake. She had expended a bit more energy than she thought she had. As they came upon a StarDucks she gave a silent sigh of relief. Sitting down would be a good idea. Grinning as he laughed over the name of the building she pulled him over. "Its a lovely name. The people who work here are even more so!" Walking up to the counter she smiled at the boy. "I'd like a chai with three blueberry muffins please?"
She needed to get energy back into her system before she was forced into sleep not her will. As they got their orders she followed him over to the booth and slid into the other side a bit less smoothly than him due to the increasing shakiness of her legs. Sipping her tea she heard his question and grinned. "I'm technically a 5th year. I've been here since I was eleven. Where are you from?"
Ajax thought for a moment, “So you are 16 then?” As if struck by a brick he dropped his head. “Right, Not supposed to bring up ladies ages. I’ve heard some take it quite seriously, have even killed over the truth being exposed.” His deep voice rang with quiet laughter (chuckles, but guys don’t really chuckle, not “manly” enough) He took another sip of his coffee and smiled. “I’m from a desert planet called Arabiania. We actually have living camels there. In the wild at that, not cooped up in zoos.” Ajax leaned in and asked in a hush hush voice. “Do you know how dangerous a wild camel is?” He leaned in a bit more and whispered in her ear “Not at all.” Ajax sat back with a smile at his little corny joke. “We don’t really have powers on my planet, but we are very resistant to the heat, which seems to be a good thing when around you.”
Ajax stopped himself from babbling more and turned the conversation over to Rikka. “So tell me about your home world, or your little sister. Both maybe?”
As he brought up her age she grinned as he quickly jumped to the usual conclusion about women’s ages. “That is only true about women in their thirties and forties. I am still young enough that I don’t mind. How old are you?” Taking a bigger drink of her tea she found her hands starting to lessen their shaking, which was good. As he spoke up about Camels she ended up laughing over his joke. “Its a very good thing you’re resistant to heat, I tend to set people’s worlds on fire.”
As he asked about her homeworld and her sister she smiled happily. ”I used to live on Pandora with my parents but something happened to them and I was left alone with my 6 month old sister. So we came to the academy where the teachers have helped me raise her around my schedule. Kiki is now five years old and spoiled since every time she beats me in a math test she gets a new toy. Do you have any siblings?” Grabbing one of her muffins she started nibbling on it as she watched him.
Ajax bowed his head to her in grief “I’m sorry about your parents.” He said, giving her the most heartfelt puppy dog eyes ever. (not meant in mockery, sincere ones) “My mother was a Gypsy and my father was a Bandit. They got together, had a few children and dropped us off where ever they could. I ended up at an orphanage with my older brother, but he ran away before we were able to get adopted. One day I saw him on the news, he was arrested for robbing a bank and shooting at the security forces. I visited him once in prison, but he wasn’t the brother I knew. So I decided to leave and come to the Academy to learn Magic. Now I’m 18 and living the life. Got a great job that puts me in touch with the most beautiful woman the world has to offer, so I’m not complaining.”
”And who would complain? I’m am the most beautiful woman in existence.” pulling a chair up to the side of the table was the young and feisty Horo. She gave Rikka a look over, before examining Ajax a little closer. Leaning over she said to Ajax, “Don’t worry, she’s a good second place.” Ajax felt like bashing his head into the table. He extended his hand and introduced the small Anulupis. “This is Horo Whitetail. She lost in the prelims yesterday and has been trying to get people to join her silly little world domination club.” Horo turned and looked Rikka in the eyes. ”You are most welcome to join! We have club backpacks.”
Rikka reached over and patted his head. ”Its perfectly fine. I have met wonderful people here and I have gotten to expand on my technological knowledge and experience. Kiki has many wonderful friends. And now I have a handsome man out on a date with me.” She gave a grin before she heard his story. Her fox ears popped up as she listened to him before lowering slightly. Suddenly Horo had popped up and pulled a chair over. She remembered the Anulupis. She had been messing with the circuitry in the Kakuzetsu which had negative effects on some of the other circuitry in the gym.
”I remember you and your club! You have been messing with the circuitry in the Kakuzetsu which has been messing up several of the electrical wiring in the gym. That little door panel you put in I have to go and rewire last week cause Mekura’s gym floor was lighting up funnily.” Looking at Horo she set her muffin down and crossed her arms. ”Also why were you messing with bombs in the makeshift office you made? You shattered several sensitive wires that I had to order replacements for.”
An elderly man dressed in grey robes and hunched over a cane slowly hobbled his way into the coffee shop. No one seemed to notice him as the crowds parted in his path. He slowly tapped his way up to the counter, all the while mumbling about franchises taking over where honest businesses should be given more of a chance. He ordered a black coffee and a cinnamon roll, and the cashier told him to take a seat, that they would bring him his order when it was ready. Shuffling off and passing the group of students, he was nearby as Horo fell.
Horo tilted her head to the side and shook it. ”I don’t know... what... your~” With that Horo fell backwards out of her char and smacked her head on the tile floors of the cafe. Ajax looked at her and sighed, looking at Rikka and with a smile suggesting “How about we just leave her there?”
Periculosi hooked the handle of his cane under Horo’s shirt and hefted her back up into a seated position. Glaring at Ajax, he flicked a cream container at the side of the boys head. “I don’t care who it is, you should always treat young ladies with respect.” Hmphing to himself, the elderly assassin shuffled a few more feet and took a seat in his own booth.
Rikka lashed out at the Cream container effectively burning it to ashes before it even got close to Ajax. ”He was Joking. And I wouldn’t have let him. Besides Kiki is looking forward to more of your stories.” Rikka smiled before looking for at the now unconscious Horo. ”Do you happen to know where her room is?”
Ajax shook his head, trying to regain his bearings. “Thank you for the save. Who was that guy?” Ajax asked pointing to where Avo had been standing. “Well, I guess it doesn’t really matter. I don’t know exactly where her dorm is, but word is that she has been living out of her office for the past month.” Ajax reached over Horo’s back and took Rikka’s hand. “Should we be good samaritans?”
The twins walked into StarDucks with Kiki skipping behind them; They walked to the counter and ordered a strawberry frappuccino and two chocolate-chip frappuccino. They handed the strawberry one to Kiki and Taighler carried the other drinks out while Taylour walked over to Horo and scooped her up. They then calmly walked back out to leave Horo in her room before they continued their afternoon with Kiki, she was going to help them with their math homework for fun.
Ajax blinked a few times, wide eyed. “or... that could happen.”
Rikka watched as the twins walked in ordered coffee and waltzed back out with Horo in Taylour’s arms. She couldn’t help but end up laughing. ”They are so refereeing. That would be the twins and they should be diving into their own love life instead of others.” Looking down at their hands she found her hand had started to shake a bit once more.
There was a whisper into Rikka’s head What? We have no idea what you’re talking about; We came to get coffee because Kiki wanted some, we just brought Horo out with us because we figured she was being a nuisance and narcissistic...we’re just being good samaritans and helping.
Rikka heard them in her head and rolled her eyes before using her free hand to nibble on her muffin again. ”I might join her little club to keep her from messing with my technology again.” Rikka simply jumped backwards to the topic of Horo’s club as she took a bite of her muffin.
It took too long for Ajax to process anything to make comments on the twins. At least they had removed Horo from the equation. The shaking in Rikka’s hands caught his eye, “Rikka, you’re shaking. Are you cold?” They it dawned on him, the stress and exhaustion from fighting in such a high level tournament must have been catching up with her. “You know, joining her club might only sound like a good idea now because you’re exhausted.”
The white smile on his face grew as he stood up and opened his arms up to Rikka. “Let me carry you to a bed. You need to relax away from...” he turned and shot a quick glare at Horo and the Twins “those distractions” Ajax met eyes with Kiki and changed his glare to a large happy smile. “My roommate is still out announcing the other matches, so you can rest there.”
Rikka finished off her tea before Ajax seemed to realize she was shaking. She tried to make an effort of stopping the shaking but it didn’t work out too well. Starting on the second muffin she listened to his question and shook her head as she watched it dawn on him why she was shaking. As he stood up and opened his arms for her she grinned at his offer.
“Are we inviting a lone female into an empty bedroom?” Her eyes twinkled as she pulled out a grease and oil stained storage device from her pocket. Placing the last muffin in it she placed it back in her pocket before she got up and grabbed her trash and made it a point to walk over to the trash can and throw it away before walking back over to Ajax. By now her legs were shaking again so she picked up his coffee and looked at him. ”If you want your coffee back you must follow me!” With that she headed out of the store and promptly tripped over her own feet.
The twinkle in her eyes was the song of a siren, pulling Ajax into Rikka despite how hard he might try to get away; in truth though, he didn’t want to pull away from her allure. He would fight 1000 warriors to stay there. He smirked as the response left his lips. “We?” he looked left and right playfully “You might have to excuse me for a second, I don’t share well with others.” It took a bit of self control to prevent himself from laughing at the joke, but he wanted the cool effect he thought it would produce.
He followed behind Rikka a few paces as she stole his coffee and made a break for the door. His eyes spotted the slight lip sticking up in the concrete and noticed that it was one in the same with Rikka’s foot’s destination. He began to move faster as her toe hit it, her body twisted to catch itself but the momentum sent her tumbling over her own legs. He reached out as far as he could, taking hold of what ever he could reach. His fingers curled around the top of her pants and pulled her backwards and cradling her in his right arm while wrapping his left around her chest. He lowered Rikka into a graceful dip, staring longingly into her eyes. He leaned forward, his face was inches from her’s. He began to inch forward slightly, slowly closing his eyes. A split second before his lips touched hers, Rikka was lifted into the air, suspended by Ajax’s muscular arms carrying her princess style.
“You should be more careful. The world is a very dangerous place.” His tone was teasing, but his motives were clear. He would keep her safe; he didn’t know why, but he felt a connection inside. As if this past hour was what his life was for.
Rikka chuckled as he said he didn't share well with others. "Oh Good! Neither do I!" Grinning at him it was obvious the coolness of his statement had gone over very well.
Rikka squeaked as she was pulled backwards by her own pants and right into Ajax's arms. Soon she was being dipped down and staring right into his eyes. As he inched forward she closed her eyes and was quickly lifted into a princess carrying style in his arms. It caused her eyes to pop open and the realization she was simply caught by Ajax. Caught....Actually she didn't mind being caught by him he felt safe and she definitely felt a connection to him.
Smiling over his words she laid her head on his shoulder and nuzzled his neck. "I don't mind if its dangerous so long as you keep me safe." Holding out his coffee cup she grinned. "Oh and look I didn't spill a drop!"
“Oh really now?” Ajax lifted an eyebrow to Rikka, slightly skeptical at first. Her evidence however was irrefutable as no spills could be spotted. “Well that is a feat.” He made a small talk during the walk back to his dorm building. Her favorite colors, songs, things to do, and stuff of the like.
“And here we are.” He confirmed, placing Rikka’s feet down on the floor and fishing his key out of his pocket. With a swift turn of the lock they were in. There were a few weights in the corner, protein on the kitchen counter and a strange creature moving around inside an aquarium. “Ah, Takeshi. How have you been?” Ajax asked walking up to the side of the glass and looking at the reptile readjusting itself on a rock. “Takeshi, this is Rikka, Rikka this is Takeshi the Gono. I found him back on my home planet in the desert, or well, maybe it is better said that he found me.” The creature looked like a wingless dragon, about 11 inches in length. It probably weighed about 13 pounds. Takeshi flicked his tongue at Rikka before closing his eyes and resuming his relaxation.
“So the bed is this way.” Ajax announced, lifting Rikka back up into his arms and carrying her through his bedroom doorway. “And here is the bed.” He stated as he began to lower her onto the bed.
Rikka grinned as his eyebrow lifted. While he carried her back to the dorms she kept her head on his shoulder while talking about small stuff. She even told him about Kiki whom was with the twins at the moment. She also told him of her latest project which involved traps that were miniturized but strong and ended up very large.
As they arrived at the dorm room she had started to yawn silently between sentences. Being set on her feet she looked at his door before getting a view of his room. Following him in she got a relatively good look at the room. Looking at Takeshi she gave a little wave before looking over the little wingless dragon. Moving over to the kitchen counter she place his coffee down then moved back over to him. "I will have to introduce you to Kiki's Pet. His name is Shadow and he’s a first gen chimera." Before she could follow him to the bed she was scooped up again.
She gave him a smile with a glint in her eye as he lowered her onto the bed. Once she was on the bed she pulled him down with her so he was now laying next to her with her arms around him. "I like to cuddle." Laying her head on his chest she gave a yawn and closed her eyes listening to his heart beat.
Ajax spun over Rikka and landed on the bed with a roll. He ended up on his back, which was right were Rikka wanted him. Scooping his arm around the back of her neck and down her back he held her close, letting loose a yawn of his own. “Now, you’re making me tired.” His eyes began to feel heavy, but there was something he wanted to do before they closed. He turned so that Rikka’s head slid off his chest and into his arm and leaned in, kissing her on the lips.
Almost asleep Rikka was kissed by Ajax. Kissing him back sleepily she gave him a smile before laying her head back on his chest and falling right to sleep.
Ajax led them to a seat and smoothly slid into the booth. He took a sip from his black coffee before asking Rikka. “So, what year are you in school?”
