What should I do? That explicit thought crossed my mind as I floated around in my bedroom alone. I couldn’t count how many days had passed since Sol truly gave me a night to myself. He was always asking for my assistance in his thought process, bouncing ideas and question my own deductions. Correcting my deductions. I had always wondered why he needed me, for it seemed that every time he asked it was out of politeness rather than necessity; much like when a carpenter asks a young child to hold his measuring tape. I mulled the thought around some, analyzing it from various angles as Sol had discretely taught me through our years of service... our years of marriage.
It hadn’t occurred to me that my body had begun floating through the walls until I was by one of the grand fountains outside the dorm buildings. My pale ghostly figure fully in the living world as I drifted into a seated position on the cold stone. The light of the moon was elegantly reflected in the timid waters, alone, on this starless summer’s night.
”Why did he leave me behind? I... I don't understand.” It had been our service to the city, the constant influx of ‘unsolvable’ cases, that kept us bonded together throughout the years. All of those pointless question felt so valuable to me as I sat there naked in the dark; torn from the armor of his presence and the warmth of his soul. The tears of loneliness phased through the stone as they fell from my cheeks. I tore at my thoughts, trying to remember what he had said to me before he left, but the words were buried under the weight of my anxiety.
Soon I began to notice students gathering, capturing images of the Phantom of the Fountain; her legend drew itself into the front of my mind. A woman who had been abandoned by her lover, town to grief by his treachery she decided to drown herself in the pool of water I was sitting adjacent to. It was rumored that on starless nights when the moon was full she would reappear and weep. It seemed fitting that I sit here now crying as she did then.
The attention I drew was however not pleasing to one in a state such as I was. It wasn’t long before my dorm room was once again filled with my presence. I sat alone on my bed, our bed, and truly began to realize how attached I had become to Sol in these years. The constant exchange of spirit energy and sharing of a single body had woven our souls together in a thick weave that one night alone wouldn’t break. Couldn’t break. It was then that the tears instantly dried from my eyes, a definite benefit of being a specter, and my mood took a motion for the better. My anxiety lifted and his smooth English accent flowed through my mind once more.
”I have something that requires my personal attention. So please take the night to relax and rest. You deserve it, Sophia. You deserve it more than any other I know.”

Beneath a tree near the grand fountains outside the dorm sat two little dolls that looked exactly alike. They were both in red dresses with white accents to highlight their white hair. Their eyes looked as if someone couldn’t decide which to put in which doll. Their left eyes were green and their right eyes were blue. Several students looked at the dolls but shrugged it off thinking they must belong to the white haired child who tended to run around on campus. One doll in particular was watching the fountain as a ghost appeared. Her eyes lit up and she stood up from where she was sitting when no one was paying attention. Brushing loose grass from her dress she looked over to her counterpart. Suesei! I told you she would appear! Come come lets go get her and allow her to find a different love!”
Suisei blinked and stood up also brushing grass off her dress and the rest of the grass of her sister’s dress. “Fine Sousei, you were correct. Have you considered the idea that she doesn’t want to find love again? Suisei finished as she stood beside Sousei and looked over at the fountain.
Sousei looked at her sister and blinked as the moon reflected off her glass eyes. Um…..no…….but maybe she wants to live again? Oh No shes leaving!” Moving Sousei tried to follow the ghost but quickly lost her as she floated right through a wall.
Suisei watch silently as the ghost girl floated away from the fountain, The girl was very beautiful, and Suisei wouldn’t mind finding this girl new love, but she knew better than Sousei that people don’t always want love, but vengeance. “Come on Soe-chan, let’s go find her, She’s headed towards the dormitory.” Suisei took Sousei’s hand and walked towards the dorms. She walked into the dorm directly behind another girl entering the dorms and walked straight to the elevators; walking into the elevator she sat for a moment to try to sense the spirit-girl, and thought she felt the girl on the 12th floor. Suisei walked over to the button-tree and glared at the 12th floor button “Why do people always put things out of reach? Sousei, do you have a pole or stick?”
Sousei walked over to her sister and took her hand as they headed towards the dorm. Unfortunately as they entered the elevator the button for the 12th floor was rather high. Staring at it she thought about how to reach it. ”Um No I have my ribbon though!”
Suisei looked at the ribbon, she knew it wouldn’t be strong enough to push the button “Hey Soesei, there’s something shiny under the paneling there, can you get it?”
”Ooooo where!” Sousei swiftly got down on her hands and knees searching for the shiny object that was ‘supposed’ to be there.
When Soesei fell for Suisei’s trick she grinned and stepped up onto her sister’s back, pushing the button and stepping down again before Sousei could toss her from her back. “There, that worked.”
”What hey! Suisei No fair!!” Hopping up she twisted her head around to look at the back of her dress. ”Your shoe prints are on my dress!”
“You’ll be fine, I didn’t get anything on your dress that wasn’t already there, I told you not to roll in the grass. Besides, now we can go help the ghost-girl, you wanted to help her right?” Suisei said.
”Brush it off! I don’t like it when my dress is dirty!”
“Ok. Ok.” Suisei said as she brushed off Sousei’s back and removed the grass spots from it. As she finished the door ‘dinged’ for the 12th floor and opened. Suisei stepped out calmly and surveyed the hall, giving a creepy grin to the boy standing there.
As the door dinged Sousei spun her head back around but this time it creaked indicating she needed to oil her parts soon. A boy whom had been standing in front of the door slowly back up before running away terrified of the dolls in the elevator. ”Ooops. He ran away. I wasn’t trying to be scary…..” Sousei took her sisters hand and walked out of the elevator before following the spirits ‘happy’ energy to a room with the name Soleth on it. ”Should we knock? I only can feel the ghost in there…..”
“I don’t feel anyone else in the room either. but the boy across the hall is panicking about a test, it’s funny.” Suisei said grinning. “Knocking isn’t really necessary, but I suppose we can knock, however, after you knock you have to go limp again, ok?” Suisei finished as she pulled a small blue-purple gem from the ruffles of her dress; it was egg shaped and only about an inch tall set inside small golden wiring, but it had an ethereal quality to it. Suisei threaded the gem onto a piece of string around her neck and laid down, going lifeless as she waited for Soesei to knock.
Giggling Sousei nodded her head and knocked on the door almost immediately going lifeless as if someone had just left her there. Once the door was opened she would only look like a large doll laying on the floor.

It was a strange occurrence for someone to request Soleth from his dorm room. Few took the time to find it in the student directory, let alone make the trip up the 12 floors of the dorm building. Sadly I would have to turn our visitor away, seeing as I lacked a body to entertain them with.
I took my time floating to the door. The coloring of my body became pixelated until I resembled a hologram. It was a trick I had spent nights working on to perfect with hopes that I could act in the real world as I virtual assistant of sorts when need. Passed into the spirit world for a moment, then materialized back in the living like a forming hologram.
”I’m sorry, Mr. Holmes is not in right now. Please leave a message.” My eyes scanned around for the living body that had knocked but no one was left standing. I dropped my eyes to the dolls on the floor and inwardly sighed, figuring that a child had left them and ran. Maybe the dolls had a mystery of their own that needed solv-
I began to panic as my body was pulled through the door. My skin flashed back to white as I began to fight against the will acting upon my body. ”WHAT IS WAIT WHAT?” My voice seemed to fade before it could leave the radius of my body. Soleth’s voice popped into my head, forcing a calm to wash over my body. I spun around to reach for my savior, but the blank walls greeted me too harshly to describe. I felt my eyes being forced shut as the lullaby of Sol’s voice grew softer and softer.
I opened my eyes to find myself caged like an animal. I thrashed at the clean crystal walls of the palace of a room, trying to free myself from my capture. A grimace fell over my face as I sat down defeated and hurt.
”Sol will save me.
I began to repeat it to myself, trying to will it into existence, while I waited for a word from my captors.

As Sophia opened the door and looked out Suisei reached out with her Soul-manipulation as Sousei calmed the girl and pulled the spirit carefully and fully into the soul gem she was holding. After the wandering-soul was fully contained Suisei stood up and brushed off her dress. She held up the gem to peer in (it’s like a one-way mirror. Sophia can’t see out, but she can hear. The dolls can see and hear inside) “Sousei, look at her. Her name’s Sophia apparently. She’s pretty, and rather sad and distraught. We should complete the transfer quickly.” Sousei watched the girl as she started to panic about being sealed within the gem. Quickly she used her magic to create a calming effect so the soul would not fight too much. It would be bad if she fought and broke the gem. As the seal was finished Sousei happily jumped up and brushed off her dress. Staring at the Gem as she felt the negative energy she blinked. ”Yes we should. She will also have to be watched once the transfer is complete. Come on lets go! Who do you think this ‘Sol’ is?”(Sophia) I looked around as the voices rang down from all sides. Children? I had been abducted by mere children? The thought as perplexing but it did bring ideas to mind. ”Hey! Let me out! It isn’t nice to go Ghost Hunting for passive souls!” I tried to keep my tone firm and authoritative, hoping that I could play on a fear of authority figures. As they walked down the hall toward the elevator again Sousei started to walk backward as she tried to sound authoritative. ”Oh! Hello! Suisei look she is sounding braver now! Ms. Sophia are you in love with this Sol person? You seem to have a lot of hope riding on him!” As they arrived at the elevator she pressed the button and waited for the doors to open. The elevator ‘dinged’ and both dolls walked in allowing the doors to close behind them. Suisei reached up and hit the 3rd floor button before holding the gem closer to peer in. “And she fears he will abandon her. Ghost-hunting, that’s a thing?...humans are weird.” The elevator begun it’s descent as Suisei peered into the gem with Sousei. These children weren’t human, that much had become apparent, as did more of their abilities. Fearsome creatures they were to rip a soul from air and trap it in a stone. “I am in love with Soleth! He is my husband. So can you let me return to him?” I doubted they would concede to my wishes but it was worth a try. “Sol’s your husband? Then why are you lingering, does that not cause grief? Either way we’re not going to hurt you, Sousei’s just trying to help.” Suisei said as the elevator slowed. The elevator soon ‘dinged’ for their floor and they exited heading straight to their room. They would continue to talk more once the transfer was complete. Opening their door the dolls walked in and started to put together a doll body for Sophia. ”Her eyes are Forest green…..All we have is normal green…...Oh well. I will find some later.”Suisei entered the room and closed the door behind her “Don’t bother, I have a set in my kit, do you want to go pick out a dress for her?” Sousei smiled and nodded. ”Will do!” Quickly she ran to their closet and looked through their training dresses. Finding a pretty green training dress that would fall to the 2’6’’ dolls knees she smiled and pulled it out. ”Got it! Should we put the gem in it now so she can get adjusted while we fix it up?”Suisei looked up from her kit. “Sure, I can do that, don’t bother with the bow, just grab the socks and shoes.” she said as she placed the forest-green eyes in their sockets and fit the gem into a hole in the chest meant for just that. As the gem was fitted into the chest Sophia would black out momentarily before waking up and beginning to readjust to the new body. Sousei grabbed a pair of socks and black doll shoes before skipping over and starting to dress the doll body as Sophia’s soul got adjusted to the new body. She knew that when being placed in a new body it usually took about 5 to 10 minutes before the soul could orientate itself and start moving even just the eyes. As it was she grabbed a brush and sat the doll up as she began brushing the tangles from the hair.

I began to awaken; the nightmare had lasted long enough to scare me out of sleeping ever again. I couldn’t remember the last time I had had such a fright, but it had caused my body to feel stiff as I sat up and began to look around. The room was unfamiliar with tall walls and high ceilings, colors that didn’t match my taste. I lifted myself off the floor and floated…
My body was stiff as a board and refused to obey as it normally had. I tried everything normal, transforming, phasing and even passing into the spirit world, but nothing prevailed. I twisted my stiff head around until the two dolls came back into sight. ”What have you done to me?!” There had never been a moment in my life where voice had carried such a rage as that one.
My wooden fist were shaking, my body trembling as I slowly stood up and glared at them. I began walking towards the two, preparing to throw my fist into their jaws. With my arm raised up I stumbled and fell onto my face. One of my eyes popped out of socket and rolled a few feet behind me. ”You put me back to normal! Get me out of here right now!”
I didn’t know it at the time, but it was about then that Sol returned to the dorm buildings. I can vividly imagine him entering our flat and scanning for my presence. Curious of my whereabouts, he had probably projected his spiritual awareness onto the entire campus trying to locate me.

Suisei walked over and picked up the fallen eye, brushing it off before popping it back into Sophia’s eye socket, causing no gain or loss of sensation, there wasn’t even pain. “Sophia, we can not bring you back to ‘normal’ life, you are dead and must accept it. and don’t do that to your neck, you’ll strain the joints.” Suisei finished as she turned Sophia’s head back so that it was facing forwards, Sophia had turned her head almost all the way around to face the back while she was looking for the other dolls. “We have encapsulated your soul in a doll-form to allow you to live life again, if you’re that unhappy with life we can release you, but if you shatter the gem your soul will be lost forever, no matter what was tying it to this place, or the Sol-person.”
Sousei got up and went to put the brush away at the girl started to come to. Giggling she came back and helped Sophia back up as Suisei fetched her eye. Humming she walked around Sophia before running over to their bed and wheeling over a 3’0’’ mirror so Sophia could look at her body. Though Suisei was already saying they could let her go if she really didn’t want to live. But but but it had been so long since she had trained a new doll! She wanted to keep Sophia! Looking around the mirror she knew she had to convince Sophia that doll life could be fun. ”Doll life can be fun too though! You can give hugs again. Talk to people you haven’t been able to. And if you wanted we could customize a body for you that is taller and more human like!” She was doing her best to convince Sophia but she knew that if Sophia was dead set on being a ghost there was nothing she could do.

It began to ache in my soul, this wooden body was so foreign to me. It was stiff, rough, and unnatural. I couldn’t bear the thought of living the rest of my life trapped in a body that wasn’t my own. Although, my life now was something not too far away from that. I took a moment to think about what they were offering, a body, a new way to live my life, but what would I lose? My ability to work with Sol, to be his eyes and ears around the campus.
I leaned forward and took a few steps. “I… Thank you for this but… I can’t. I have a body.” I had finally found my footing and continued on. ”I have a body, it’s tall and lean. Super strong by normal standards. I have long hair and bright eyes.” I sat down on my knees and smiled. ”It’s a really wonderful body, so I don’t need yours.” I smiled and nodded, spreading my arms out to the side.
”so, if you would please, release my soul now.”

Suisei sighed and directed Sophia to sit on the bed against the pillows “It’ll take a few minutes for your soul to disconnect from the doll body, since your so used to being a spirit it might not even be that long, just relax.” As the gem lost connection with the doll body Suisei continued speaking to Sophia, even if the girl wasn’t listening “I’d love to see this body of yours. You’re soul’s very bright and I can only imagine your body being the same. Where is your body?” Suisei said as she pulled the gem out of the doll’s chest and replaced the dress, leaving the doll body to appear as if it’s was a normal doll the entire time. Suisei turned back to Sousei still holding the gem.
Sousei sighed as Suisei didn’t even try to argue for staying a doll. Dolls were good and they gave good hugs. Plus it had been such a long time since they had made a new friend. Looking at Suisei as she turned to her she was about to say something when the door opened.
(The living dolls look like little girls who’ve been ‘possessed’, but it’s just the Soul in the dolls body; their souls are a few centuries old)

Soleth returned to campus with a small parcel in hand. He listened to the chatter of students as he slid by, on most night he would have passed by invisible, but tonight the moon shined brightly and reflected off his silver hair. Some girls about the area turned and stared, while their boyfriends tried to reclaim their attention, between short spits of hate and jealous glares. He had been gone about three hours working on his personal project.
Soleth approached the dormitory room and began scanning the area for Sophia’s spirit. He had expected that she would be loafing around in their room, reading a book or watching a show, with something prepared to be thrown in his direction and an angry pout on her face. Yet as his deduction had been wrong. Her spirit wasn’t present within their room. He turned his gaze around and looked throughout the whole of the building, taking notice of two a few spirits whose souls shouldn’t belong in this plane of existence.
He placed his parcel down and made the trip to the room the dolls had. From the outside of the door he could feel Sophia’s faint presence, bottled up within a device he had never encountered before. He placed his hand on the door and using his spirit energy, forced it to open.
Soleth ignored the dolls and picked up the crystal that held Sophia’s soul. He turned it around in his hands and looked at it from all angles. ”A strange device indeed. A soul anchor no doubt, however it acts as a catalyst as well, to pass the spirit through… the dolls. Yes the dolls.” Soleth turned to face the two little girls and squat down to their eye level.
”Are you little girls spirit-mancers?” He leaned to both sides and even reached out to touch Sousei’s hand in exanimation. He looked around once more, taking in the doll on the bed and then their appearance once more. ”Or maybe you are spirit thieves. Is that what you do? Ripping the soul away from its anchor and attaching it into crystals for your enjoyment?”
Soleth held Sophia’s crystal out before the little children and gave them an ultimatum. ”You will release this soul.”
((Soleth doesn’t sound happy, he doesn’t look friendly, aside from his charming looks, and the dolls would have the right to assume that he was, in fact, himself a soul stealer, who abducts souls and forces them to do his bidding with the promise of returning people to their bodies which could explain why Sophia was a spirit who was so sure she still had a body and seemed really desperate to return to being a spirit. But that’s only an idea. You can do what you want))

Suisei looked up at Sol as he took Sophia’s gem out of her hand, she stood there quietly as he tried to deduce what was going on. He correctly figured out that the gems anchored the soul to the doll-body, but was completely wrong about their intent with the souls. She was insulted that he thought they were spirit-thieves, but didn’t show any of it on her face. She grinned as he asked if they were spirit-mancers, she could work with that wording. She looked over at Sousei and politely asked, “Are you a little girl spirit-mancer?”
”No I’m not!” Sousei said with a giggle in her voice. She was always rather giggly but she did not like the man who had barged into their room and taken Sophia. “You are incorrect we are not spirit thieves, we are simply two girls rooming together and rescuing lost souls. At least we didn’t steal someone elses body, what poor girl did you steal that body from?”
Suisei walked over to stand by his outstretched elbow ignoring the gem entirely before starting her speech with a wicked grin (creepy dolls are creepy) “Your deduction is incorrect. How do that make you feel, knowing you’re deduction is wrong and that you’ve failed to solve this ‘mystery? What do you intend to do if we don’t release that soul?”Suisei said indicating the gem “Breaking the gem will cause the spirit to evaporate into nothingness, squeezing it too hard can have the same result. and since she’s bound in that gem removing it to far from it’s other piece could cause the spirit within to die, if that happens you wouldn’t be able to make it do your bidding would you?”
”Body Snatcher! Soul stealer!” Sousei snatched up the gem he had taken and popped it into her mouth. Effectively swallowing the gem. He wouldn’t be able to get it unless he blew her to bits which had the potential to damage her soul and Sophia’s. Though before she swallowed she felt Sophia glow with love and the boy was returning it. Was this the boy named Sol? Or was he simply a man bent on taking this girl’s lovely body for his own use?
((Sophia can see and hear everything going on, but only the dolls can hear her speaking. Also they’re holding her when they could now release her. Suisei’s just feeding off the negative energy Sol’s exuding))

Soleth clenched his fist as the gem was stolen from him. What were these little people up to? He thought for a moment, analyzing everything. There were two of them, their power was either very high, or very specialized. Could he defeat both of them and force them to release his wife? He thought…. No, it would be a danger to Sophia to do such a thing. Soleth decided that another course of action would be required. ”I’m feeling in a good mood. How about you release Sophia from the soul gem, and I won’t have destroy yours soul gems.”
Soleth began cracking all of his joints in an attempt to intimidate the dolls before him.

Suisei schooled her features as she looked up at Sol ”If you destroy us you run a high risk of also destroying the gem that Sophia is housed in.” Suisei shuddered as he popped his knuckles “Please don’t pop your knuckles to try to intimidate us, watching you do that makes my joints hurt. But, I suppose we did get off to a bad start: You storming into our room uninvited and threatening us and all. Let’s talk about this like adults.” Suisei finished as she walked back across the room and dragged over a doll-chair, which she sat on and folded her hands in her lap before addressing Sol again “Please have a seat so we may talk.” She said gesturing at the ground in front of her.
While Suisei was talking Sousei looked at her own knuckles wondering if she could get them to pop. Curiously she attempted to pop her knuckles and instead accidentally broke the joint in her ring finger moments before it hit the ground. ”Ooops. uh.” Scooping it up she quickly ran over to the closet they had opening it with a wave of her hand. Crawling inside she inadvertently shut the doors behind her. ”Oof!” A little bit of a ruckus could be heard from inside before it calmed down. Though Sousei did not reemerge from the closet.
Suisei tried to ignore Sousei but her head snapped to the side as she heard a crack from her ‘sister’ and watched her run into the closet and lock herself in. Suisei turned back to look at Soleth “I’m going to leave her in the closet while we talk, I can personally assure you that Sousei will not harm Sophia, she can’t even step on a spider when it’s scaring her. Continuing the topic at hand; we found Sophia and Sousei believed she may be that spirit from the legend the ‘Phantom of the Fountain’ Sousei and I followed her and captured her in a soul-gem. We were hoping to rehabilitate her and to give her a second chance at life. We transplanted her soul into a body and she did not enjoy the experience, so we were removing her when you stormed in.” Suisei took a deep breath and her soul swelled some, similar to lungs filling with oxygen. Sousei’s soul, still hidden in the closet was pulsing slightly and swelling, similar to a beating heart filling with blood.
In the closet Sousei made Sophia’s gem appear in her hand before looking at it. ”Is this man the boy you spoke of before?” Her voice was quiet so only Sophia was really going to hear her. She had an inkling this was the boy Sophia said she loved, but she just wanted to be sure. Especially since she was having fun playing with Soleth. Him worrying out of love and everything.

“Is this a game to you?” Soleth questioned looking down at the doll sitting before him. “Does capturing souls into soul gems, without even speaking to them first give you joy? Do you abduct children as well?” Soleth’s anger only grew as Suisei sat before him speaking about her reasoning in such a casual way. “How could we possibly get off to a good start when you’ve just stolen a human being from her room?” Soleth’s spirit aura began to grow. “You were planning to rehabilitate her? With Stockholm syndrome?” Soleth took a step forward. “Even though you have been alive for 300 years, you think this is a smart idea? A fun game?” Soleth picked Suisei up by the front of her dress and held her up to his face. “You are thieves. Abducting souls from where they are to force your better way of life upon them. Whether you know it or not, my deduction was very much correct.” Soleth let go of Suisei but her body remained floating in the air, held by Soleth’s spirit energy.
Soleth began next by knocking on the door to the closet, before simply pulling the door open and glaring down at Sousei. He pointed backwards at Suisei, floating in the air. “Your sister seems to believe we got off to a horrid start. Truthfully, I would agree with her.” Soleth squatted down and put his face near Sousei’s. “I don’t know what games you believe are ‘fun’ but I’ve got a new one for you. I will rip her body apart, piece by piece until nothing but her soul gem remains, and then, I shatter it, grind it up into dust and scatter it to oblivion, right before your eyes. Does that sound like fun? Now, we can play that game, or, we can play the one where you finish releasing Sophia’s spirit from your crystal prison and I don’t end your sister’s already long life.” Soleth now had Suisei’s body suspended by her wrist and ankles, chains of spirit energy visible to the naked eyes. Soleth stood up and reached out with his hand towards Suisei. “You have until I close my hand to decide. Then, when I next open it, your sister will be torn limb from limb.” Soleth’s hand was wide open, but slowly he began to curl in his fingers. A countdown. His eyes stayed locked on Sousei.
“Your sister for my wife. Make a choice.”
((Don't worry Stein, they will be friends in the end. Sophia is going to have some words for Soleth ))

When Sol accused Suisei of kidnapping children she looked hurt for a brief moment before she blinked and schooled her features. She tried to speak several times, but Soleth simply continued talking, so Suisei’s comments weren’t heard. When Sol picked her up by the front of her dress she looked ready to burst from anger and her spirit swelled as she fed of Sol’s anger/irritation. Sousei’s soul within the closet was also growing, Sol may have been mad, but he was doing it for love, which filled her soul. She was listening quietly to Sol speaking to Sousei, but when Sol threatened Suisei she glared at Sol’s back, she needed to refocus him “If you’re the great spirit-mancer you’re rumored to be then shouldn’t you be able to see our ‘souls’? Why not just command our souls to release Sophia?” (Suisei knows that that’s impossible)
Sousei heard Soleth threatening her sister from inside the closet and jumped when the door was knocked on and swung open. Looking at her sister slightly scared she watched as Soleth made his ultimatum with her. Probably thinking her the weaker of the two. Head drooping she looked at Sophia’s gem as if ready to release her. Slowly she lifted her head as a laugh escaped the doll who now held a rather evil grin. ”Go a head. Actually let me help you! Suisei is always so much fun to play with!” Even as she said it Sousei flung her hand out pulling all of Suisei’s fingers off first. Then the palm of her hand then the ball sockets. ”Oh but I’ve been a bit bored lately. And your precious Sophia...Hm it could be fun. You know I could just shatter this gem. Just as easily as you can shatter mine.” Another giggle escaped her before she looked at Sophia’s gem. ”But she is very pure. She loves you very much. Its so rare now a days for someone to put blind trust in another.” Her voice seemed to take on a tired note to it.
Suisei lowered her head defeatedly as Sousei laughed, she winced as if in pain as her fingers and hands were torn off and fell to the floor. Suisei raised her head again and stared at Sol. Sol, why did you have to do that? I was finally getting close to burying that personality and you woke it up again. Well, at least you figured out I was the evil twin.” Suisei glanced over at Sousei making sure that she wasn’t trying to hurt Sol or the gem. She sighed before speaking again “Sousei, calm down; why don’t you go sit outside in the grass, or you could walk through the garden and chase some of the butterflies.” Suisei wasn’t really concerned that Sousei would hurt her, but Suisei was always concerned when Sousei became violent like this. If Sousei’s soul altered too much it’d upset the delicate balance of the 2 halves.
”I don’t feel like going out right now Suisei. But I guess I will release Sophia.” Looking at Soleth, Sousei watched him with a very serious stare. ”I will give her back, but you should not make her worry so much. You made her weep today and a girl as precious as this should not be made to weep.” Gently she took the gem in her right hand as she used her left to use her magic to slowly release Sophia. ”There you go Mrs. Sophia. Sorry to have startled you earlier. Suisei I am off to take that walk you spoke of. Today….has been very tiring.” Hopping out of the closet she set the now empty gem on the bed and walked out leaving Suisei in pieces. Sousei decided she must have been playing goody-goody too long. Normally she might have shattered the soul gem without a second thought and revelled in the loss of a love one that Soleth would have surely put out. Oh well. Maybe she was just getting tired. Rubbing her chest gently where her own soul gem rested she headed to the gardens for a walk.
Suisei watched her twin release Sophia and leave the room, she was always concerned when Sousei’s mood spiked, but she figured her twin would be ok after this ordeal, she looked over at Sophia “Are you ok Sophia? The effects of the gem should entirely dissipate within about 5 minutes.” She looked at both her disassembled hands scattered on the floor and looked back at Sol. “You’re going to have to reassemble my hands Mr. Holmes. and did you never learn how to treat a doll; my hair’s going to need to be brushed now and I can’t do it after that little demonstration.” She figured that this would provide her a free hair brushing and Sol would have a chance to examine her hands and ask any lingering questions he had.

This was truly unexpected. Soleth blinked at first, his mouth slightly agape as Sousei commented and even began dismantling Suisei. How had he not seen this? Looking back the signs were obvious. The manner in which Suisei took control to prevent her sister doll from having a chance to react with anything dangerous or malicious. He had mistook her lack of speech for timidness. It was a horrible miscalculation. And Suisei seemed to take a grim pleasure in rubbing it in. Still however, Soleth remained slight. His face regained composure as the two dolls spoke back and forth. Soleth had reset Suisei upon the floor as Sophia was released.
I finally felt like me again! Rushing forward into his arms, I squeezed Sol as tightly as I could. He had an amazing way of manifesting his spirit so I could do so, so I wouldn’t just pass through my own body like a knife through butter. He put his arms around me, kissed my forehead lightly and whispered so softly. I almost couldn’t hear it. ”I’m sorry”
Tears welled in my eyes, and for the second time tonight I was crying. I drove my face into his chest, my chest, and couldn’t hold back. “I knew you’d come for me but I was so scared. I tried to be strong, but I was so scared.” He pet my head, his breathing was steady but I could feel our shared heart pounding. His spirit energy returning slowly to normal now that I was back in his arms.
Sol released me slowly and turned to face Suisei, there was a slight agitation that remained in his eyes, I could see it but his anger had subsided. He looked at the pieces of hand on the floor and deftly reattached everything to where it belonged. ”I’m not going to brush your hair.” he spoke flatly, almost how he spoke with Luca, just vacant of a different kind of pain. I floated over to him and placed my hands on his back and shoulder, peaking over at the doll sitting before us on the floor.
“Soleth, you were going to rip her apart, you could at least-“ “I was bluffing. Mostly, and her companion called it.” I gave him a pouty face, but Soleth just looked away. It shocked me… Soleth never acted childish like this. Only when he was young did he pull these stunts with me. Never in public either. “Sol-“ I pleaded. But he refused me again, “I will not brush her hair. You do it.” Soleth suddenly turned me and kissed me. My lips felt warm as our spirits switched places and he floated next to me. “I still think them kidnappers.”
I picked up a nearby brush and sat down behind Suisei. “Don’t mind Soleth. He’s a grumpy grump sometimes.” My curiosity began to get the better of me. “So where did you come from?”
