Blair enjoyed Kye's childlike enthusiasm and showed her so many rides that she lost track of whom was leading whom to what ride. It was entertaining watching the angry strict teacher let go and just have fun. As they stepped off a roller coaster she was immediately dragged to the game booths where one man had board with holes. "Careful, these games are generally rigged." Watching as Kye stood grinning while getting the softballs handed to her she looked at the man. It wasn't hard to note the gleam in his eye. Blinking she watched as Ky missed the first two throws. He aim was perfect on the third throw though. Her eyes narrowed to slits as the ball seemed to bounce off something.
Making her eyes return to normal she smiled happily at the man as she wondered how to get payback. Actually Blair decided she would let her date get the revenge. Paying the fee she took the balls and tossed the first one with perfect aim toward the grand prize. This time there was no mistake that it bounced off something. "Hm... Bad luck" Tossing the second one she aimed for a smaller prize on the right which was a free ice cream ticket. Grinning at the man as it went in she tossed the third one in a hole with a purple stuffed cat with yellow eyes. "I'll take my prizes now please." The man looked at her dumbfounded and she noted the worried look in his eyes before he smiled and handed Blair her prizes. "Kye would you like to try again? I'm sure you'll make it this time." She was leaving it up to Kye to figure out the guy's trick.

Kye watched intently as Blair took her turn, and her eyes narrowed when she saw the same phenomena occur from a different angle when Blair aimed for the grand prize hole. It was very, very faint, but the grimalkin could see a flicker of a low-level barrier blocking the hole, with some form of runic pattern outlining it. Are you f*cking kidding me right now? she mentally raged. This prick really did rig it!
As Blair stepped aside from the game, Kye cast a glance at the game-keeper. He seemed worried that Blair hit the barrier dead center, but he hastily recovered with a plastic smile when Kye looked at him. Did he think she hadn't noticed it? "Hmph...yeah, I'll make it all right." She payed for her second round, and the keeper handed her the three balls once more.
She didn't immediatly go to throw them, however. Instead she brought one up to her face to examine it. Sure enough, she found the last piece of mystic evidence she needed. The magic code counterpart to the runic barrier over the hole. Faintly inscribed on the surface of the ball, she found a pattern similar to it.
She knew she recognized the rune circles. It was a pseudo-magnetic polarity barrier. She held two balls close to one another and found that there was a sort of force pushing them apart in. To top it off this force would repel the balls with the same amount of force that Kye tried to bring them together as well. Meaning that whenever she had thrown the ball at the hole, it would seem to bounce off as it had hit a solid wall. In the simplest terms, each ball had the same circle as the one over the hole, giving them each a pseudo-magnetic pole, all of them "North" sides of magnets to repel each other as opposed "North" and "South" sides to attract one another.
Kye glanced at the game keeper again, still smirking. This idiot totally didn't see that he was found out, did he? He probably didn't set up this system himself and paid a magician to do it for him, expecting to profit and get more than his money back.
Well, you carny shit-head, you're playing games with a Academy Magics Teacher, now, she thought. This was a brilliant and simple setup, but it was just as simple to break. The "North" runes on these balls were just a minor edit away for a "South" runes. And Kye had some sharp nails.
"Oh look, some dirt," she said nonchalantly as she proceeded to pick at the rune circle with the nail of her thumb, scratching in the edit she needed. A devious grin crossed her lips as she finished a couple seconds later. "There, much better..."
She brought her arm back, the hole dead in her sights, and hurled the ball forward at full strength. The ball not only met the hole and the barrier dead-center, it clung to the barrier and held it there inside of the holes opening.
The game keeper did a double take at the sight, babbling nonsense to himself in confusion as his parlor trick backfired. "Oh my, would you look at that. Looks like I won the grand prize."
The carny looked back at her and feigned an intimidating glare. "Now hold on, I say you cheated."
Kye raised an eyebrow. "Cheated?" she asked. She challenged him for a moment with her silence. Then she laughed curtly before stepping up to him. "Cheated?" She almost slammed one of the balls she was given into his face, but settled on shoving them in front is pitiful mug, the rune circles facing him. "You've got a lot of nerve calling me a cheater. I played your little game, and I won, fair and square." She smiled at him, no, it was more like a threatening grimace, complete with her malicious, devil-cat gaze. "Now be a good sport and fork over that prize, little boy, before I become very unsportsmanlike. Dung mah?"
The carny, face sweating in shear terror, quickly reached over and handed Kye the striped stuffed elephant. "Why, thank you," Kye replied in an uncharacteristically cordial tone as she handed the remaining balls to him. She then turned on heel and strolled back Blairs way.
Once she was beside her date once more, a content smile on her face, she held up her free hand and snapped her fingers, the balls the carny was holding bursting into flames behind her as she said, "This game's lame. Let's go somewhere else."
As the two of them started to leave the pitiful cheating game keeper to extinguish his hands in the dirt, Kye glanced over and noticed one of the kids that she saw blowing money trying to win the grand prize. A younger girl clad in a t-shirt, shorts, and running shoes. She had a really good throwing arm, Kye could tell, she had just been wasting her talent on cheap trickery.
"...Oi, girly," she said. The girl jumped, as if half-expecting the grimalkin to set off on her next. Instead, Kye tossed the stuffed elephant to her. The girl managed to snap out of her stupor and quickly caught it before looking up at the devil cat lady incredulously. "Keep working on that arm, and always play fair, got it?"
The girl stared for a moment, but then nodded her head before finally answering with a smile, "Th-thank you!"
She ran off then with the stuffed elephant, and Kye watched her go. For a moment, it almost seemed as if Kye was as happy as the girl was. She dismissed this feeling with a sigh, however. "Not like I have much use for some stuffed pachyderm, anyway."
She looked over to Blair. What was she smiling at? "Well, where to now?"

Blair grinned deviously as the man realized he was actually in over his head with them. Watching Kye try again she noted the changing of the ruin on the ball. Biting back a laugh she watched the man as he stared at the hole where the ball was stuck in the barrier. When he tried to accuse her date of cheating she almost stepped up herself when Kye rounded on him and gave him a good tongue lashing. Very proud of her date she walked away with Kye. Blair laughed and looked around for a better game it was starting to get a little dark as the lights in the park lit up.
Hearing Kye call to the girl whom had blown a lot of money trying to win the grand prize looked back. Watching Kye give her prize to the girl Blair smiled. Her smile was different from her usual ones, this one was soft, kind and happy. It matched the look in her eyes. "Lets go get some ice cream. I do have a free ice cream ticket." Waving the ticket between her fingers her grin returned to her normal Cheshire grin. She was secretly hoping that by the time they finished the ice cream it would be dark enough that all the lights in the city would be visible from the Ferris Wheel. Afterwards Blair would take her to dinner.
Gently she steered the Grimalkin towards the little ice cream shop for a sweet treat. Holding the door open for Kye the door bell gave a little jingle alerting the man working the counter that he had customers. Once Kye had entered Blair walked up to the counter with her. "What kind of ice cream would you like?"

"Free ice cream?" Kye asked with a perk of her ear. Blair really seemed to be prepared for this date of theirs. "Bitch'in! Let's go!"
And with that, Kye followed Blair into the small, brightly colored building in the park. Inside there was a froze dairy shop filled with rows of tubs of various flavors of ice cream. It even felt several degrees cooler compared to outside.
Kye read through the flavors as she passed them by; Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry, Mint, Peanut Butter, Seasalt, Lemon Pie, Horo-
"Sweet mother of Buddha," she gasped as she stopped at one tub in particular. It read, French Vanilla Mocha Cappuccino. Her eyes could not have appeared any bigger or sparklier than they did now as she gazed down upon its glory, hands pressed up against the glass like an eight year old in awe. It became quite obvious which flavor caught her eye. "This one, please!"

Blair grinned as Kye seemed to jump at the idea for Ice cream. Smiling happily she waited for Kye to pick out one. It quickly became apparent to which flavor caught her eye though. Laughing she ordered two scoops of the French Vanilla Mocha Cappuccino and two scoops of Chocolate chip Mint ice cream. Handing over the free ice cream ticket she went and grabbed a booth setting down the purple cat stuffed animal she had also won at the rigged booth.
Grabbing a couple of spoons she took the bowl the woman offered her and steered Kye toward the booth that the stuffed animal was guarding. Setting Kye on once side of the booth, Blair took the other and stuck one of the spoons in the mocha. She actually wouldn't have minded trying to feed Kye herself but the idea was not to scare her date off before the finale. "So how are you enjoying yourself so far?" Taking her first bite of her ice cream she watched Kye.

A bright smile beamed from Kye's face as she was handed her ice cream and followed Blair towards a booth. From the moment they sat down and she was handed a spoon, she went right to work in shoving spoonfuls of her delicacy into her mouth. It was as exquisite as she could have ever imagined.
One scoop too many, too fast, however, and a skull-splitting headache forced her to freeze her ice cream shoveling in its tracks, her eyes squeezing shut in recoil, making quite a grimacing face in the process.
I...regret...nothing! she thought as she mentally fought back her self induced ice cream headache. Her face finally relaxed, having just recovered, and was preparing another spoonful when Blair asked what she had thought of their date thus far. Smiling she replied, "It's been great! The breakfast, the coffee, the rides, setting cheating assholes on fire," she raised her ice cream bowl, "and this beauty right here! It really beats smashing my head into a dusty old book to crack open its secrets for a change."
She paused then, however, a frown settling on her face as she looked down at her bowl. She felt...guilty all of a sudden. Blair had clearly planned this day of fun for the two of them so thoroughly, and earlier, Kye had only been acting through some improvised movements just to get through it at first, and even tried to leave their date early. She felt so upset with herself right now it almost made her sick. She knew she had to at least apologize.
"I...I have a bit of a confession to make, Blair," she started. "When I first left the lab this morning, all I could think about was just getting this over and done with so I could return to my work, the only reason I had in coming being that we had agreed to doing this the other day, and even then, I'm sure you probably noticed, I tried to sneak out of it." She took a breath with her next pause as she tried to sort out what she wanted to say. "It was really...inconsiderate of me to treat you that way. I'm sure you put a lot of time, thought, and effort in all of this. And there I was trying to shoot you down. I really have been enjoying my date with you." She had to take another pause, why was this proving so difficult for her?! She felt as if she was rambling. "I guess, what I'm trying to say is...uhm...sorry...for making it difficult for you."

As Blair watched her date start consuming the ice cream, her eyes softened while she ate her own ice cream at a much slower pace. When Kye induced a lovely Brain-freeze she couldn't help but laugh. She was absolutely having a great time with Kye. Her change from this morning also put her much at ease. The look of Kye relaxed and happy made her chest squeeze a little. Yeah she had started going after the Grimalkin to mess with her, but slowly she learned more about her and it turned into a small crush. Now the purple cat was sure she liked the woman before her. Angry mood swings and all.
Blair smiled as she ate another bite of her ice cream while Kye exclaimed the date had been great. When she finished though Blair watched a frown settle on her face. Oh. Maybe she had remembered the Grimiore and was going to go back to it now. They probably wouldn't even get to the finale at the amusement park. Feeling sad she made her self ask, "Whats wrong?"
Of all the things she thought the Grimalkin would say, her confession was not it. The surprise on the cats face slowly melted to a look of warmth and kindness. It was a look she rarely showed others, since she normally had a facade she chose to show the world. When Kye finished with an apology Blair reached over and tucked some stray hairs behind Kye's ear. "Your forgiven. This date has been wonderful and I am very glad you chose to come." Getting a small bite of ice cream on her spoon she held it out to share with Kye. "Would you like to try a bite?"

Kye blinked as Blair moved a stray fair from her face and told her that she was forgiven. A faint tinge of red crossed her face as she wondered, Was she always this...nice? The grimalkin had always distanced herself as much as possible from the other staff, and everyone else, really, that maybe it was why she never noticed util now.
She looked at the spoon of ice cream Blair offered her to try. Chocolate Chip Mint, wasn't it? It did look tasty. "S-sure, thanks..." she stuttered. Waitaminute, when the hell did that start!? She briefly wondered. She did not stutter, not ever, if she had something to say, she would sure as hell just say it!
Regardless, she took a bite from the spoon and tasted the ice cream it held. "It's...pretty good." she commented. "Maybe I should get that next time." She looked down at her own bowl and scooped a spoonful of it before holding it out to Blair. "You want some of mine? Fair's fair, you know."

Blair smiled as the grimalkin's cheeks tinted red. It was a rather cute look. Glancing at one of the windows she noted it was very close to being just the perfect darkness. Few more minutes and she would ask Kye about the Ferris wheel. Hearing the stutter Blair got a little giddy that she had made Kye, queen of saying what came to mind, stutter. "Your welcome."
Watching her take the bite she smiled happily. The date seemed to have gone off with out a hitch. Upon being offered a bite of the Grimalkin's coffee ice cream, she took the bite from Kye's spoon. "Oh! Mocha ice cream isn't half bad." She'd bet it would go even better with normal vanilla ice cream. As they began to finish up their ice creams Blair looked at Kye.
"Would you like to ride the Ferris wheel?" Blair's tone was rather nonchalant but it was slightly obvious since she hadn't brought the ride of before that she had been saving it for a grande finale to the date.

"Heh, great tastes think alike then," Kye commented after Blair tried her ice cream. A few minutes had gone by, during which the two of them finished up their frozen delicacies. Afterward, Blair mentioned a ferris wheel. "Huh," Kye mused. "I haven't been on one of those before. Are they really so big a deal as people say?" She had to admit, she was rather curious, and since they were here anyway, she supposed it would be quite a shame not to try it out. "Let's go." she said, tossing her empty bowl into a nearby trashcan. She turned to face Blair and held out a hand to help her up from her seat in the booth.

Blair grinned and finished up her ice cream as Kye thought about the Ferris wheel. Finishing up Blair kept her eyes on Kye hoping the Grimalkin would agree. When she did it took all Blair had to keep from bouncing. Taking the Grimalkin's hand she let her date help her up before she grabbed her trash and tossed it in the trashcan with out letting go of Kye's hand.
Happily she lead the way to the Ferris wheel where the line was just getting started. Taking up a spot she waited for their turn to get on. Once it was their turn she helped Kye into her seat and hopped in next to her. "Your gonna love the view." Blair waited patiently as they slowly inched toward the top. When they were slightly high enough she covered Kye's eyes ignoring any possible grumbles from her.
When they finally reached the top Blair uncovered her eyes and motioned to District 5 which was lit up below and the night stars above. Smiling Blair watched Kye's reaction.

Allowing Blair to lead her by the hand, they arrived at the Ferris Wheel, a tall, rotating, circular metal frame carrying a couple dozen two-seat chairs.
They took a spot in line, and when their turn finally came, Blair helped her into their seat. It wobbled and rocked as they sat down. Kye assumed it to be part of the ride, but nevertheless felt a tinge of slight unease at how it felt for a moment, but allowed herself to adjust to the rocking motion.
At last, they started to move in an upward arc, only for Blair to cover her eyes with her eyes. "Oi, the only 'view' I can see is yer fingers in front of my face, Blair...Oi!" she grumbled. Just what was she up to?
Eventually, her eyes were uncovered, and her grumbling came to an abrupt stop as her gaze was met with a dazzling display of lights from city below, matched with the stars' nightly glittering of the heavens above.
It's...beautiful, Kye thought, for she found no words to describe the sight as the myriad of lights reflected in her golden eyes.
She couldn't tell how long she had sat there speechless, but eventually, she broke from the lights spell and glanced over at Blair to see she her watching it too. "..." After a moment of watching the lights once more, she opened the side of her coat and dug out the box of Pocky that she had brought along with her. She pulled out a stick and popped it into her mouth, adjusting her hold on it in her teeth for a second before holding the box out in front of Blair with a slight rattle from the sticks in the box, silently offering her one.

Blair chuckled softly at the Grimalkin's grumbles as she waited for the Ferris wheel to hit its peak. Blair was glad she had saved the Ferris wheel for last cause the look on Kye's face said it all. Her gaze softened again as she watched the Grimalkin try to take it all in at once. This was what she had been waiting for since Kye had decided the route the date would take. Looking out at the view she smiled pleasantly as before looking at Kye. The Grimalkin seemed to be speechless.
Blair watched as Kye pulled out her pocky and began munching on a piece. It wasn't a surprise but what did cause the cats eyes to widen was when Kye, famous for her revenge against students who tried to take her pocky, was offering her a piece. Quickly she got over the shock and accepted a stick of Pocky. "Thank you Kye." Her words weren't just for the pocky but for the mere fact that Kye was here today. Quiet and happy she sat content next to Kye nibbling on the stick of pocky.

No, Kye thought, smiling as the two of them watched the lights. "Thank you, Blair."
~~~
Later that evening, Blair walked Kye back to her magics lab in the academy, talking about various things of idle interest along the way. Turning into the hallway where her room was however, Kye blinked at the sight of the most ridicules, zig-zagging hat she'd ever seen, then sighed as she looked closer at whose head it was sitting on. "Ah, christ."
There stood a boy on his floating broom, peeking through the doors window, muttering to himself."hmmm...then that one...oh, then theres that one too...wonder if I'll be able to carry them all...Just have to wait until its clear..."
"Ketsui," Kye called, and the boy jumped. "It's pretty rude to lurk in doorways, y'know."
Looking her way, the boy, eyes covered by aviary goggles, piped up, saying, "Ohai Miss Cheshire. Miss Blair. I didn't know you were outside your lab already! I didn't even get to use my distraction plan!"
"..."
"This is perfect, now I can go in and borrow them since your here and not there..." he muttered to himself, looking back through window of the door.
"Yep. I'm right here all right."
The boy blinked behind his goggles. "Huh?! Wait-a-minute, there's someone else inside! Sitting in a box? What's she doing?"
"Keeping watch for burglars."
"Why would someone watch out for burgers? Ohhh, is there food in there too?"
Kye's palm consulted with her face. "Oi, Ketsui, I think I heard there was someone on the opposite end of the academy looking to join your...uhm...what were you calling it?"
His eyes lit up. "A new recruit?! Well why didn't you say so!" He moved away from the door, and pumped his fist in the air. "A new member of the Guild at last! We'll see whose laughing in the end, rival Whitetail!" And upon his broom, he sped off down the hallway. "Do not worry! I, Isaac Ketsui, shall welcome you with open arms, recruit!"
And then he was gone. "...Always the special kinds of stupid," Kye muttered. Rubbing her forehead momentairly, she then looked back to Blair. "Anyway, today was fun, Blair. Thanks for blackmailing me out here." Although the term "blackmail" was used, one could tell Kye was using it lightly, and was legitamatly happy to have come along.
Blair smiled at the night started to come to an end once they had exited the Ferris Wheel. Walking Kye home was pleasant and definitely something to remember. Upon approaching Kye's magic lab she blinked at the oddest boy on a broom floating there. Watching Kye deal with him in an orderly fashion she couldn't help but grin. That had been almost too easy. Though he was bound to be back. Maybe she should magic Kye's place to ward off the boy for the night.
Turning to Kye as she thanked her Blair smiled softly. "Your welcome. It was great even if it was cause it started out at blackmail. We could always do it again next weekend. How about a Dinner date?" Smiling she waited for a reply before pulling out the purple stuffed cat she had won at the amusement part. Handing it to Kye she looked into Kye's eyes. "You can keep it or give it to Saya. Thank you Kye for an amazing evening. I can't wait to do it again."
Gently she pushed the loose hair away from Kye's face and leaned it placing a gentle kiss on Kye's lips. Pulling away she smiled ever so softly and headed back to her house.
