Tower of Babel Planning: The Guild

An idea for another group in ToB I had that is inspired by Malcom Renolds crew from Firefly. The Guild is led by Isaac Ketsui, a sky-pirate and self proclaimed "Magus Knight" who founded this group of theives and mercenaries. It mostly consists of "supernatural" beings who are unable to find a place in society where they would be hunted and/or killed. This group earns their bread by accepting missions from anonymous parties (often assumed "criminal") requesting the delivery and or transportation of people and or objects, without the "involvement of the government" (i.e. smuggling stuff here and there). They are not particular affiliated with the Resistance, the Military, or even the Golden Wind, but it is not too uncommon that they might either take jobs from them (this is true specifically for the Resistance and maybe even the Golden Wind if their theiving skills would be particularly useful to them for a certain event) or operate in conflict with (this specifically being the Military since they probably would want to arrest/kill them. Also, Isaac likes the idea of screwing with abusive authority for the laughs).

They aren't a group of Mercenaries who go into battle for some parties accord, they are simply petty thieves who are especially skilled at such a trade. However, they live in a dangerous world, and when push comes to shove in a job, these Guild members obviously will need to know how to defend themselves and get the job done. This group also has some degree of morals as well, meaning that, for example, if they think it's the right thing to do in the middle of a job to break a deal with their employer, they will do so, and find a way to deal with the consequences.


The Guild travels in what is considered to be the fastest and most well constructed airship of all time, fueled by magic and able to take refuge above the distant clouds in the sky: The Dragoon

a note about second in command: the main reason they have this position would be because the captain considers them to be a close friend and has the utmost trust in. They were the first person to join him onboard the Dragoon even when the idea of forming a band of theives independant from and against the government sounded a lot like suicide at the time. The ship itself, when it first set sail, could easily have been described as a "flying piece of shit."

Couple of things here

Blondie's real name is Clint Cobb (yes, his last name is a Firefly homage), Blondie is a nickname 'cause he's well . . . blonde.

And we now have the role of Ambassador (possibly second in command if Rikka's idea for it falls through) in the form of Father Keanu Meng a half-Hawaiian, half-Chinese Priest of Light with a dark and troubled past as a former Inquisitor and Hitman.

Consider her a member of the job squad, able to follow orders. She sort of joined the Dragoon for three reasons: one, it's a cool ship; two, she was bored; three, she caused some trouble with the government.
