So important story element for Babel that I've been mulling over and decided on. Essentially, Calthion would not have created a universe and then just gotten rid of it when it failed. If it failed things would have been reset. The Babel Universe is no exception and has been looping for quite some time. Not even Balthazar or Gaia were spared the recreation and as such have no knowledge of it. The only people fully aware are Malthior as he has supervised every iteration and handled every restart, and unfortunately for her, Seraya the Ancient representing humanity's collective will. The main reason things are now progressing as they are is because Malthior has finally started to grow bored with the repetition, and Seraya is using this to her advantage to stir things up in a desperate attempt to save this iteration of the world. It's also why Samantha managed to become so involved with him as well. Feel free to attempt to use this information to your advantage or simply file it away!
What it amounts to will be a pleading conversation at the start of Babel between Malthior and Seraya on the nature of influence/interference on their part since technically they're not gods and of her convincing him to allow the balance to get more hectic before he makes a decision as he would have already intervened in the past.
