Soft foot steps padded along the forest floor as white hair with black swayed around them brushing away her prints. Baby blue eyes looked around as the girl passed under the trees listening. The forest echoed with life, birds looking for mates, bugs foraging and babies calling for their moms. It was almost like Pandora except a lot cooler and less humid. Stretching the young girl of 18 glanced up a particularly large tree and checked the knots on her clothes.
They were clothes she had been given cause she couldn't wear proper clothing. She found it too constricting and it always got torn up when she shifted, on accident or otherwise. Once she was sure the cloth tied at her waist and another tied around her bust weren't going to come off she started up the tree. She didn't mind being at the academy since everyday there was something new to learn, but lately she had been getting home sick. Today she was going to spend it in the forest. Which was a lot bigger than she had thought.
Reaching the lowest limb she reached out and grasped it quickly pulling herself onto it. Standing up she looked about and gave off a soft purr. This was much like her home and it made her feel a little better. Reaching up she grasped the next branch and made her way up till she was about half way up. Finding a branch thick enough she straddled the branch and leaned back against the trunk closing her eyes to listen.

Like a phantom she roamed. The forest was alive with vegetation, animals, nature all comfortable with her presence as her small feet roamed around lost, but not in the average sense as she had no destination. The girl started running, her face smiling as a wild nature that she hadn’t experience in so long immerged. Her hands were soon in the dirt, pushing her forward, her goof laugh filling the canopy of trees with sound. ”This is amazing!” she called as she took a leap forward and bounced off a tree and back onto the ground. She chased an imaginary tail in circles before stopping to rest. She plotted down into the leaf litter, careless of the condition of her white dress and laid her head back on the trunk of a nearby tree.
”I wonder where Mommy and Daddy went?”
Her light voice rose up into the trees as she took in another breath of fresh air. Her determined face twisted around and gazed up the tree. ”I’m go’na climb you!” she declared as she hopped up and wrapped her arms around the wide base with a smirk before falling backwards into the dirt. She laughed loudly, looking up at the tree. Her eyes focused and took notice of a person perched up there. ”Momma, is that you?” she called up with a laugh. She rolled forward and shook some of the leaves out of her hair before standing and placing her hands on her hips. ”Momma, how’d you get up there? The tree’s so big!”

Keera listened to the sounds of the forest until a child's foot steps. Blinking her eyes open she wondered why there would be a child in the forest. Children scared her. Looking down out of the tree she noted a little girl rambling through the forest happily. Pulling her legs up she attempted to hide on her branch in a crouch as she watched the child. Fear was already starting to knot up in her chest. Its not that she didn't like children, in fact she didn't mind watching them so long as they didn't see her. Its just she was afraid she would hurt them. It was a fear she held since she was little.
Her head tilted slightly as she watched the child below her giggling and trying to climb the tree before falling backwards. When the child called her momma she fell off her branch free falling a a few before she caught a passing branch and yanked herself to a halting stop. Wincing she pulled herself up and found she was a lot closer to the child now. Only a 1/3 of the way of the Tree now. "I-I am not your m-m-momma." Hiding on her branch she stared down at the little girl. She was not coming down. No way no how.

She looked up, laughing as she raced forward again for the tree. The little 4 year old girl planted her foot on the trunk and launched herself upwards. Gaining more height than she should have for a child that small. She reached out with one hand and caught hold of a branch, pulling herself up with practiced acrobatic ease. The girl however was now 8, looking completely different than before. Her hair was wild and her eyes held the ferocity of a tiger, no… A wolf.
”Ma’ma I why are you hiding up here? Did I do something wrong again? I’m trying very hard to be good.”
The girl stood on the branch, looking up at Keera with confused eyes. She couldn’t understand why the smell of worry was pulsing from the tiger’s body. She was about to take another leap up the tree when her nose twitched. The scent of cherries. ”Pa’pa!” She called out, turning and looking off into the trees. She looked up at Keera while pointing off into the distance. ”It’s Pa’pa! Can’t you smell him?” she asked, bouncing on the tree before jumping down to the forest floor below, landing with a roll and rushing off.
A mile north of Keera, Luca looked around the trees. Something had drawn him out into the forest today but he couldn’t understand what it was. She smiled as the air brought him information of the world around him, closing his eyes and looking through the memories they gave until. ”Pa’pa!” she called out as she pounced on him and pushed him to the ground. Luca laid surprised as the encounter, but smiled as he opened his eyes and looked at the girl. He opened his mouth to speak, tell her she was wrong, but his face froze. He starred at the girl in disbelief as she got off of him and took his hand, pulling him off the ground.
Luca stood, but couldn’t adjust his face to anything other than surprise as she spoke. ”I think Ma’ma is mad as me… she won’t come out of the tree. Pa’pa, did I do something wrong? Luca squatted down and hugged her, ”I think you’re mistaken, I’m not your Pa’pa… Take me to your mother and we’ll figure everything out.”
She looked at Luca, her eyes wide with fear, shock, and remorse as her head fell. ”I… I-“ She started crying ”I know…” She turned around and sprinted in the opposite direction back towards Keera. It was only a few minutes before she was back under the tree. A girl of 12 standing there, afraid. ”Mom? Mom I know you’re up there… Something is wrong with Pops… He looked like he didn’t know me when I saw him.”
She took a leap off the tree and propelled form the branch she had used earlier. Her hair was longer and her features beginning to find their feminine form, but her dress remained proportional on her body. She stopped a few branches below Keera and leaned against the tree. ”Do you and Pops… Do y’all hate me?”
Luca arrived at the base of the tree as she spoke, looking up at Keera and the girl in the tree.

Keera watched the girl as tried to come up the tree again. This time when she came up she was 8. Did kids age that fast? Oh no they couldn't. There was something wrong. Now that the child was on the tree branch she watched. Soon enough she was bouncing out of the tree and running off into the distance. 'Papa?' Taking a breath of the wind she caught the scent of cherries and knew exactly who the scent belonged to. Slowly she started to come down the tree.
Before long though the same girl was back. This time she was 12 and back in the tree before long. The girl she sounded sad. Keera couldn't understand why this girl thought she was her mother, but it would be okay to pretend right? Her mother had looked out for her. The girl looked so afraid. "N-no. We don't hate you. Why would you think that?" Crawling onto a branch near the girl she watched her. May she could get more out of the girl if she pretended. She could just pretend to be her mother. Her mother had been good. Sitting on her branch she watched this 12 year old who seemed confused and afraid.

She looked up and smiled. ”Sometimes, I feel like I don’t belong, or you and Papa hate me for what happened.” She said softly as her body was back to being 8. Luca climbed into the tree and sat down next to the girl on the branch. He took her hand and smiled. ”There is nothing you could do that would ever make your parents… us, hate you.” He looked over at Keera, making eye contact to let her know he was on the same page. The girl bounced forward and tackled Luca, knocking him and her out of the tree and onto the forest floor.
”Opps” She said bubbly as she rolled off of him as a 14 year old girl. Looking up at Keera she smiled ”It’s cool Ma, we’re fine!” She stood up and brushed the dust off her dress before bouncing around. ”We haven’t wrestled in a long time! Come on Da! You and me against Ma! We can take her!” the girl stanced herself for battle, ”Capoeira, you know it?” The girl looked shocked at Luca, ”Well Ma told me I had to beat her before I could date boys… I don’t have a boyfriend yet, but… Well I’ll beat her and then find one! Alright, we’ll attack right after she transforms.”
Luca looked concerned at Keera, before stating, ”I don’t think you’re ready for the tiger just yet… maybe when you’re older…” The girl looked at Luca, reverting back to 8 year old form before getting as close to Keera as she could. ”Ma’ma, why don’t I look like you and Pa’pa?

Keera heard her and reached out gently stroking her head. She seemed so unsure. Luca soon came up and gave her a look that he was on the same page she was, which was good cause the girl seemed to think he was her father. Suddenly she tackled Luca out of the tree causing Keera to gasp and work her way out of the tree. Jumping to the forest floor Keera noted the girl was back to being 14 and wanted to take her on. Taking a slight step back she was glad that Luca had intervened.
Suddenly she was back to being 8 and asking Keera a very hard question. Sitting down she pulled the girl into her lap and thought about the question. She was right she didn't look like either of them even if they did look like her parents. Maybe she had been adopted. It wasn't uncommon in the wild if a mother lost her baby that she would adopt one of someone else. Some how she felt that would be wrong to tell the little girl. "Does it matter if you don't look like us? We love you just the way you are and we wouldn't have you any other way." Gently she held the girl just like her mother had held her when she was little.

She snuggled against Keera and listened to her heart beat. It was such a steady rhythm. She started to tap on Keera’s chest, improvising a beat with Keera’s heart as a base. ”I love the sound of Ma’ma’s heart.” she giggled. The girl looked up at Keera and with a smile plopped a kiss on her cheek. ”I kissed Ma’ma! I kissed Ma’ma!” she said in a jingle, looking over at Luca as if he was supposed to be jealous.
He walked over and lifted her up from under the arm pits. ”You lucky little girl you! Oh Look! Now you have super powers! You can fly! You can fly!” ”I can fly!”[/’font] Luca spun them in a few circles before placing her down next to Keera. She smiled, the bright smile an 18 year old gives when she knows her goofy parents are hers, no matter what. She spun around before looking around the forest, as if waiting for something.
”Sometimes, I think I can feel her. My savior, my angel, watching over me like a silent Guardian.” She squatted down, and began drawing in the dirt with her finger. ”I know, it sounds crazy Mom, Dad, but… It’s like I can feel her inside of me, waiting for a moment when she is needed to break out and save me again.” She stood up and smiled at Luca and Keera. ”I know, my powers give me heightened senses, and my body is more agile and stronger than normal people but sometimes it’s like time slows down and waits for me to react… I can’t really describe it, but… It’s like I’m not alone up here.” She pointed to her head. ”I have to go soon, but… I just wanted to say thank you. You’ve raised me since I was a little girl, alone and homeless on the street with no memories of who I was of where I came from. You gave me a name…” She began to cry. ”Mom… Dad… I took, so much from you and I just wanted to let you know. I love you.”
A light began to shine behind her. All of her younger selves gathered around her and waved good bye before stepping into her body. ”This is good bye, it looks like my time is up. Thank you, Mom! Dad!”
She stepped into the light and began to vanish, Luca raced forward and called out. ”Wait! What is your name!” he asked as her body vanished. Left behind was the 4 year old girl, who actually looked like a mixture between Luca and Keera. ”Her name is Asuna, and she’s my little sister! So don’t you forget it Pa’pa!” With those words, Luna faded from sight and there was an eerie silence throughout the woods.
Luca stepped back a few paces and looked at Keera. ”I couldn’t read her past… either of them… What do you think just happened?”

Keera smiled and kissed the top of her head. She guessed kids weren't all that bad. She still feared them but when this one called her mama she didn't mind it. It made her think of her own mother and how she had cared for Keera until one day she had just disappeared. Getting a kiss planted on her cheek she smiled and ruffled her hair before Luca came over and scooped her up. Leaning back on her hands she watched at Luca spun her around before setting her down. When he set her down though she was an 18 year old.
As the girl stood up Keera also stood up watching the girl who just kept switching ages like she couldn't pick one. Listening to her she wondered why she had come here and what her purpose had been. Suddenly she started to fade along with all the other little girls at different ages. Watching her eyes wide with amazement she watched as the other little girls stepped into the body of the bigger one. As Luca raced forward asking what her name was Keera listened. Asuna had been the older girls name. But what of the one who looked like her and Luca.
Sitting down with a thump after the little girl had vanished she blinked. Looking up at Luca she blinked and shook her head. "Sometimes you just can't explain things. I do wonder who the little girl at the end was." Standing up slowly she pulled a few twigs out of her hair and looked back at Luca. "So what do we do now?"

Luca scratched his head in wonder and confusion. This forest had given them a glimpse into something magical, but he didn’t know what it meant, what the history behind it was. It was a true mystery. A feeling he rarely ever felt in his life. Luca backed up and plopped down on the ground next to Keera and released a deep breath. ”That last girl looked kind like you. She was cute, wasn’t she?” Luca laid backwards and looked up into the canopy of leaves above their heads. He looked to the side and smiled at Keera.
”If you really were her mother, I’m sure she was grow up to be just a pretty as you.”

Keera watched him as he seemed to be trying to figure it all out. It was just one of those thing you couldn't explain. Looking down at Luca as he plopped down on the ground she locked her hands behind her. She liked his Cherry scent, she almost always knew when he was around. "She was cute. She also looked kinda like you." Keera smiled at him before walking up to the big tree again. Slowly she started up the tree again. She hadn't quite finished her exploration of the tree yet. Almost reaching the first branch she heard his comment and.....slipped. Hitting the ground with a thud she laid there staring up the tree like she couldn't understand how she had gotten to the ground again.
Sitting up she rubbed her head before looking at Luca. "I uh...I don't....know how to respond to that." Since coming here she had developed an array of emotions and always found it interesting to figure out what they were. Unfortunately she still hadn't figured out what it was about Luca that made her slip up sometimes. He was relaxing and easy to be with. But sometimes she found her heart racing in his presence and nervousness sneaking into her head. Getting up she found her cheeks were starting to flush this time. Quickly she climbed up the tree again hoping the weird nervousness and heart-racing would go away. They were very distracting. Reaching the first branch she grabbed it and swung herself up and onto it.

”Well, maybe I should have a child.” Luca jested as Keera fell back to the earth. Luca rolled back onto his feet and shuffled over to the tree base, looking down at Keera as she got up. Luca smiled and followed Keera up the tree as she went to explore. ”You know, that is a response of its own. And a cute one too.” Luca climbed higher into the tree and pondered for a moment. ”You know, if the child looked like you, and the child looked like me, then maybe we should have a child.”
There was a tone of jest in his voice as he hung upside down from a branch. Looking down at Keera with a smile. ”I mean, you made a pretty good mother there a few minuets ago.”

Keera watched at Luca seemed to be joking. Stretching on the branch she was perched on she climbed up a few more branches and watched as Luca crawled up to a higher branch. Watching him ponder she blinked as he suggested they mate together to have the child they saw. Her heart started racing once more and she almost missed the joking tone in his voice. "I'm not ready to mate. I have lots to learn before I can." She didn't want her children to be at a disadvantage as she was.
Looking up at him as he hung upside down with a smile towards her. Reaching up she gently twisted a piece of his hair in her fingers. It was rather soft. "I was pretending to be my mother. I treated her how I had been treated.....after I realized she was afraid. I....I am actually scared of little ones."

Luca mimicked Keera’s climbing techniques and descended backwards down the tree until he came back to her branch. He grazed is fingernails along her cheek, slowing to a stop on her chin and genteelly pointing her face towards his. Luca leaned in and softly cooed. ”You’re to gentle to hurt one of the little ones. Trust me.” Luca leaned over and whispered into her ear. ”I know.”

Keera watched as he came back down the branches to sit next to her. Blinking as his fingers grazed her cheek and gently pointed her face toward his she blinked. The path his fingers had touched was warm and she could feel herself start to flush pink as he cooed at her. When he whispered in her ear she lost her train of thought. What was it that he did to her? It slightly confused her, slightly scared her, and more than anything it made her curious. Wanting to know she simply asked. "How do you do that?"
